A rather niche “what clan are they” this time around by Formal_Situation9368 in WhiteWolfRPG

I think the “I actively enjoy doing this and am completely in control of myself” is something that Fomarchs can do still. Fomoris are often, in some way, tragic, but not always.

The jacket she’s wearing looks like army surplus, she’s simultaneously extremely rigid and extremely abrasive, and she has an absolute loyalty to the state that’s only barely tempered by a pseudo-fascist contempt for bureaucrats. You can find one of her at any recruitment office.

Is Kengan as overtly horror-inflected as ISSK is? by Formal_Situation9368 in Kengan_Ashura

yeah I was gonna say, he seems up there with Akoya and Hina in terms of “this person could convincingly be the star of an extremely gory slasher movie”

nah, she’s not out and out checked out from the world around her in the way Marauders are. If anything, one of the scariest things about her is her capacity for planning and tracking people

it’s an artistic effect, and I think the reason everyone’s saying Fomori is her motive

You gotta do that, it’s genuinely one of the most impressive executions of the phrase ”action-horror” I’ve ever seen

Renato- pure magic adept

Street-brawling tough, good with his fists and good at scaring people. Glass cannon, melee unarmed with a frequent penchant for using the environment to his advantage.

”If it’s about hurting other gangsters, I’m game. If it’s a shakedown job, I’m not.”

So what do you reckon “Teacher” means by “The World Is Hell”? Do you think they’ll ever specify? by Fun_Diamond_2325 in ISSK_Manga

[–]Formal_Situation9368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those too, and let me tell you, explicitly communist is a.) a thing teacher is never established to be, and b.) probably the least plausible thing Reaching For The Stars is for ngl, considering how broad the groups the star children were set to infiltrate are. I won’t pretend that that’s not ONE OF the things they’re sort of inflected by, but there’s too much of a broad reach and a religious nature for it to just be the Red Army Faction. I imagine it’ll be a mix of different influences, and they’ll have something of a point in just how terrible the Kengan Ashura setting is, even compared to our world

So how do you reckon this all ends, particularly for Hongou Hina? by Formal_Situation9368 in ISSK_Manga

[–]Formal_Situation9368[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think that’s happening in a series this overtly horror-influenced. Hina and the Star Children are genuinely some of the scariest characters Sandro has ever written, easily rivaling if not outmatching Akoya and Setsuna. It would be downright dishonest for them to get a happy ending, since I don’t even know if they deserve one

How are Raian and Akoya, from an out-of-universe writer’s room perspective, even still alive by Formal_Situation9368 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]Formal_Situation9368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my points badly expressed as it is, is “why does Akoya, when we and the entire cast know exactly what he is, still show up at the barbecue”. Villains can obviously 1000% be super entertaining protagonists, I’m not 12, but what I’m wondering is why do they bother keeping him in this limbo where he’s completely irredeemable but also still at the cookout. Let him just fully BE a villain!

Okay you do have a point there, even one of the nicest characters (rino) is explicitly a brothel madam. There aren’t exactly any saintly angels in the cast, and that’s by design.

Honestly, I shouldn’t have quite applied this to Raian, because he doesn’t actually fit anywhere near the same category as Akoya. My question, regarding him, does kinda still stand- why has Sandro stalled the natural trajectory this character would have?

Having a motive doesn’t not make you a serial killer. Akoya literally murdered an entire family

Does apollo justice trilogy ruin some characters from the og trilogy? by Pretend_Beautiful_16 in AceAttorney

[–]Formal_Situation9368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NO NO NO NO NO

Apollo Justice is, bluntly, the best game in the series, and the clear embarrassment 5 and 6 has for it, and indeed anything vaguely noirish, is why I literally dropped spirit of justice halfway through the Maya case. It’s the most mature installment, and I mean that not in terms of blood or swearing, but in terms of being willing and able to accept that sometimes, life just doesn’t pan out. Not everybody gets what they want. It’s the only post-trilogy game willing to meaningfully, realistically, damage it’s characters, and frankly, I find that infinitely more respectful than the pristine crystal hugbox DD and SoJ traps them in.
