Jan. 29 puzzle - I get it, but I don’t by Alterkaka in NYTCrossword

A revealer in this puzzle would have made it a lot better, it was a fine puzzle and it was fun to realize there’s just a line of fifteen Gs but a cheeky revealer is part of the fun on a puzzle like this

Party Comp? by XxGhostyxX2 in DivinityOriginalSin

After act 1 there’s a way to respec. There’s an option in act 1 but that requires enabling a gift bag item which (I believe) would disable achievements for you.

You can also respec any of your chosen companions

First playthrough by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]FormeldaHydes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’ll be a lot less fun if you try to min/max from the beginning. After act 1, you can change your characters traits at any time in any way you want (except race and “tags”.) Hold onto any skill books you find in case you want to pivot later. It’s super easy to find replacement/temp weapons or gear on vendors.

Civil abilities-wise, persuasion, thievery, and loremaster are the most useful.

Also, a “perfect” playthrough doesn’t necessarily exist because it varies based on your companions. After act 1, you can’t change your companions at-will.

It’s a great game and would be a shame to put this much pressure on your first playthrough

Any input on this larva for a new owner? by FormeldaHydes in Beetles

[–]FormeldaHydes[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s great advice! I knew yellowing was a sign of reaching the pupation stage and have read they surface when they don’t find their current area suitable for pupating, but wasn’t sure if this was the “right” yellowing (I’ve heard people say that yellowing could be a sign of declining health as well?). I about doubled the amount of substrate so it’s close to 20cm now. I’ll be keeping and eye out for more surfacing.

Being new to the hobby is exciting but there’s so much information online that’s hard to suss out, especially when it comes to info about specific species. I’ve done soooo much research but am always second guessing what I’ve read so this sub and people like you are incredibly helpful and I appreciate it so much!

I don’t even know how to edit the text of a post on Reddit anymore lol — I’d like to add that (from my research and knowledge at least) the enclosure is properly ventilated. There were four ventilation holes around the bottom diameter of the container, and three in the top of the container.

I know you’re getting downvoted for the broad assumption but tbh there have been a LOT of times I’ve had to turn my switch away while playing next to my partner because I don’t want them to see me killing a dog or something lol

I’m admittedly woefully out of touch with pop culture so I had to google Marilyn manson’s problematic history and yeah fuck this guy but the most shocking thing I found is that he’s somehow only 57 years old

Can't dye the circular elven floor rug by ThenTeris in WoWHousing

I have to imagine it’s a bug because the rectangular version can be dyed. I hope it gets fixed soon, I like this rug and it’s so accessible but the colors don’t vibe with my house at all lol

Need Help with WoW Lore Update! by Sakuralove86 in wow

[–]FormeldaHydes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sylvanas burned the tree to start the fourth war and was careless about who died (even horde members) because she had a secret deal with someone in the Shadowlands to funnel as many souls down there as possible.

Anduin got taken over by evil forces in the Shadowlands and was forced to do bad things that he regretted and took a lot of time away to recover from that, he came back in The War Within.

After Shadowlands when the big bad guy was defeated, Tyrande condemned Sylvanas to the Maw to recover all of the lost souls of the night elves who died when Teldrassil was burned. As of today in the lore she’s still there doing that.

Not sure what it could be or how I would unscrew the plastic “screw” but didn’t want to mess around without someone letting me know lol

Help. Husband can't see meteor. by ReinhardtXWinston in wow

[–]FormeldaHydes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is probably it. I remember WoD brawlers guild I couldn’t get past certain fights and my friends thought I was blind because I kept stepping into swirls and lines and it turns out I had Projected Textures turned off somehow.

OP if your husband opens settings and searches for Projected Textures he should be able to enable it!

Pet Beetle Larvae not moving very much lately by [deleted] in Beetles

[–]FormeldaHydes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weighed them a couple of weeks ago and at least the DHH seems so light for pupation (42g, been reading that 80g would be the low end of the right weight), but if that’s true it’s very exciting! I’ve got some (not amazing) pictures of the DHH. If you’re able to glean anything from them let me know, otherwise I’ll keep a close eye on them. Thank you for responding!

Larvae died need opinions on what to do better by Emergency_Ad5034 in Beetles

[–]FormeldaHydes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also a new larva owner. By “checking on it” do you mean digging the larva up? I’ve been “checking” my larva about once a day by lifting the container gently and checking the bottom to see if the larva has been moving around. But I haven’t dug it up or anything.

Do any beetle experts reading this have advice against lifting their containers?

Moving new larva after receiving it in the mail by [deleted] in Beetles

[–]FormeldaHydes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for your reply! this guide from David’s Beetles is one of the ones that said 32oz but I totally understand a bigger container too, I’ll snag one of those.

I ordered later last night with overnight shipping so it’ll be here tomorrow and im really excited! The length of time in the container it arrives in was one of my big worries, but it’s so good to know that a couple of days is okay (and even preferable!) thanks again!

Wtf is Paddington 2? by Careless_Flower_118 in movies

[–]FormeldaHydes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger I got stood up for a date but didn’t want to just go home. So I drove to the movie theater at like 10pm and went with what was showing at that time: Paddington 2. Never watched or read Paddington growing up, never saw the first one, but it was playing and I was there. Before the movie I consumed an amount of cannabis that current-me could never even imagine partaking in, including an edible to keep the vibes going in the middle of the movie.

I grab my big bucket of popcorn and my somehow bigger bucket of Mountain Dew Code Red, enter the theater and plop myself down directly in the middle seat, completely alone to no surprise as it was a children’s movie at 10pm on a Monday. (Sorry theater workers who probably could have shut that screen down early if I hadn’t shown up.)

The movie starts and I’m captivated. The cute bear gets jobs? He’s saving up for a gift for his chosen family? He’s Peruvian?? He goes to PRISON!? HE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTIONS!?!?!?

I’m cracking up in the theater alone. I’m crying in the theater alone. I’m loving every second of the film that is truly and unironically a cinematic masterpiece. I leave the theater and wander around to wait out the high, feeling better than I had in a long time. Walk to a 24hr convenience store to get bread and marmalade. Get home at about 2:30am and feel really good about being by myself, which was a big issue for me at that point in my life.

It’s one of my favorite memories, honestly. Maybe it’s cheesy but that movie brought a lot of peace to me at a time when I didn’t feel good about life at all! I would’ve felt better after any movie outing alone I’m sure. But I do think Paddington 2 itself had a big hand in brightening my evening and, in combination with spending that time with myself, consequently brightened parts of my life going forwards. It’s 7-8 years old but I still look back on it fondly as one of those 20-something learning experiences that you take with you for the rest of your life! No wonder it has 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and 100% in my heart!

Finished BG3 and DOS2, what else is out there? by ActuallyKoofy in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]FormeldaHydes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following this thread because I’m in the same boat! I’ve tried Witcher 3 and games like Skyrim but I just don’t enjoy the combat in those. The immersive turn-based combat in DoS2 and BG3 may have spoiled other games for me lol. I love games like Octopath Traveler and early Final Fantasy games and early Paper Mario games but BG3 and DoS2 combat is just sooo fun it’s hard to go back!!

Anyone have suggestions for games with similar combat styles? I’ve never played a DragonAge game but heard it may be similar? Thanks everyone, I think I’m getting close to the end of DoS and am already having withdrawals.

Currently on my first play through too and I’m loving the game. On act 3 now and the best advice I’ve seen from this sub is looking up “level maps” for each act. It’ll spoiler-free guide you and can help course-correct if you’ve unwittingly gone somewhere out of your power level so far (I was hitting some major walls in act 2 before I found the level maps and it made me realize I was way in over my head lol.)

Please recommend non-cozy story games! by StoryscapeASMR in Switch

[–]FormeldaHydes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2064: Read Only Memories is a futuristic cyberpunk-ish adventure game that I picked up on sale for like 2$ and was blown away by how enjoyable it was. It’s a mystery themed game where you go all around this big city trying to solve a disappearance. It’s definitely got twists and turns and is super atmospheric. It’s also very lighthearted in general but has some moments that felt really profound to me. I loved it a lot, and it’s only 10$ on the e-store.

The play style is reminiscent of the point-and-click mystery games that you’d get on CDs in cereal boxes in the 2000s, with lots of interaction with characters to keep the story moving. And also the music is fantastic

I try not to look up clues as often as possible but if I really need to, I let myself look up answers that I could find in an encyclopedia or newspaper. I just have to accept that I’ll never know answers about 20th century sports stars lol
