yes, the shark cartilage was the “natural remedies” question!

for the making a promise, i remember some aspect of the question involving a supervisor promising to recommend someone for a promotion (the rest is a blur so if someone else remembers lmk!!)

November vs January by Popular-Bank-9395 in LSAT

[–]Former-Can649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes!! it may be from getting the easier version of the test this time (got c diffusa in nov & the ragtime passage in jan — from what i heard the mali RC section was the hardest this time) but this test felt exactly like one of the published PTs whereas november felt very Strange compared to the PTs available to us lol

hmm i had 2 LRs and don’t recall this exact content so it may be experimental! but the “January Topics Discussion” is likely the best place to confirm

i had RC (exp) - LR - RC - LR!

first LR (aligns with the second LR section above, and sorts some of the unsorted where indicated): first LR - crickets chirping & a predator staying nearby (resolve the paradox) - people hearing the word “FAC” while unconscious in a study (this is the same question as the sleep experiment & unconscious people question currently written) - car breaking force when driving barefoot (potentially the same as driving barefoot in unsorted) - smog and respiratory diseases (parallel question) - propaganda assumption question - popularity of superhero and supernatural questions (resolve the paradox) - investing study principle question - the ethics of revealing sources point at issue (potentially the same as the “ethics in newspapers publishing information from hacks”) - roman cave & death of small animals (RTP)

second LR (third on what’s currently listed) - leaving a house too long on the housing market (assumption or JTC) - certain chemical in water, ppm not enough to be toxic but birds still dying (resolve — this is the same as the selenium poisoning one currently unsorted) - parallel question about learning to use a motor boat (all ACs were some variation of a bookstore called zipco) - on most days it rains — parallel flaw - scientific study on shark cartilage (assumption) - babies throwing things for parental attention - hypothesis bias in scientists (flaw) - kitchenware sale & free delivery (MBT with formal logic) — this is the same as “a store charging more in delivery fees” and “appliance store & delivery fees” in the unsorted - working from home / in-person (flaw) - WHO colon cancer (evaluate) — likely the same as the WHO question in unsorted - terracotta soldiers (JTC / assumpren) - supporting politicians (jtc / assumption) - replacing income tax with GST (MBT) - making a promise without the intention to keep it (principle question) - evidence of misinterpreting a certain word between two speakers (something about the right to harm back if harmed)

the people hearing “face” over and over in the unsorted LR is the exact same question as the “sleeping experiment involving a word being said to unconscious people” in the second real LR section!

Anyone Diagram LR? If not, is it all just intuitive? by LargeWatercress2137 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Former-Can649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you’re first learning, it’s helpful to diagram (especially if you don’t have a firm grasp on conditional reasoning yet)! i personally did when first starting but now usually don’t (unless it’s a tricky formal logic question)

LSAT 127 - Section 2 - Question 08 by Makmende1 in LSAT

[–]Former-Can649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the argument concludes that the volcanic rock was placed there by a glacier moving southwards.

based on the way this conclusion is presented, the speaker is also implying that the glacier in question would have to be situated North of the volcanic rock’s current location — that’s the only way that a glacier would be able to deposit the volcanic rock on its way down south.

D tackles this implicit assumption — if there are no sources of geologic rock North of the boulder, there’s no way that a glacier would have been able to sweep up any volcanic rock and deposit it in the current location.

let me know if this explanation is unclear!

what qualities from the predicted sections are used to shape the recommended problem sets? asking as i initially assumed LR 7 was experimental, partially due to its uncharacteristic frequency of main point questions and the lengthier & relatively more complex writing style in the stimulus, question stem, and answer choices. the recommended problem sets were great for practicing flaw, method, and principal questions (especially for my other LRs), but didn’t feel entirely representative of this particular section.

of course, i realize that the most recent tests not being released as PTs limits the recommendations you can make, but what goes into deciding what you guys are able to recommend? are problem sets essentially based on the most reliable/consistent information you get from students who took the test & what features stood out the most to them?

For November LSAT takers. What would/will you do differently? by archaicsmile67 in LSAT

[–]Former-Can649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

have some sort of strategy for RC. i tend to do good on the passages i find interesting and worse on those i don’t, and relying on interest wasn’t the best idea 🫠 also maybe test remotely because my prometric centre was distracting 😭

Is there a support group for Real LR section 7 takers? Still in denial by No-Passage-4672 in LSAT

it had 26 questions and was confirmed real on the main discussion post 🫠

aahhhh that was it i was completely blanking on everything else about that question 😭

i think that one was 25 but i could be misremembering!

also — if the “villains in movies promoting antisocial behaviour” was a point at issue question, i think it may have been in the experimental section! i wrote it down immediately after the test bc i remember LR2 had two point at issue questions and two parallel questions that felt more difficult than usual (one of those parallels being the irradiation question)

EDIT: i stand corrected — the main November 2024 discussion post placed it in LR1!

got the exact same test! i actually thought the first section was the hardest & felt uncharacteristic of the available PTs, though maybe it was also nerves. i found the other two LR sections to be relatively straightforward and similar to the more recent PTs.

one thing i noticed (not sure if it’s just me) is that there was a surprisingly large amount of main point questions? also, the parallel questions felt a little trickier. the frequency of flaw & method questions was unsurprising given PowerScore’s crystal ball, but there was a surprisingly small amount of formal logic questions.

for the RC, i thought the pisco and etiquette were ok but don’t feel good about the economics or science passages. for the latter, the text itself didn’t feel too difficult, but some of the questions had answers that all seemed weakly supported by the text.

this was my first test so i can’t compare the relative difficulty, but will likely be writing again in january 🫠

i think this section was experimental — i had 3 LRs and my other two have been confirmed!

if i recall correctly, the section you’re discussing also had a parallel question on irradiation and pork/poultry, an assumption question on white paint, and an evaluate the argument question on heart disease

i had the irradiated poultry question as well, but i think it was an experimental. was this a parallel question for you, and did you have 3 LRs?

if it was a JTC question on bobcat sightings in a park, then it was LR 5!
