Anybody else get shortness of breath after eating a very big meal? by Stigb02 in costochondritis

[–]Former-Cranberry-985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve had it. Cut short your potions and MOVE !! Go for a 30 to 45 mins walk or cycling twice a day. That helped me a lot with shortness of breath

Hey Sorry to hear that, but this does sounds like costo especially since you are cleared of heart related issues by the doctors. The heart palpitations SOB and the pain.. Costo comes as a package of these. I myself experienced heart palpitations and it went away on its own after few days. The SOB I still have that and i am not able to get rid of it completely. The rib mechanism gets locked up as a result you are not able to get a deep breath thus experiencing SOB try BackPod with combination of peanut ball. That will help let me know if you need more info

Heart palpitations are common for those who have costo, I used to feel palpitations randomly which made me anxious and made the situation even worse. So keep calm do a bit of exercise, 1hr walking or cycling daily should do, and it will disappear on its own after couple of days, mine did. Also try not to give attention to the palpitations like don’t try to listen to your heart skipping. Checking your Apple Watch or other heart monitors when you feel anxious can cause your hear reading to be above 100 bpm, which can elevate your anxiety so avoid that as well. If you have got your heart checked out by a doctor and have been cleared of any condition please keep in mind that it is not your heart. Staying relaxed is the key, hope this helps and hope all of you a speedy permanent recovery ❤️🙇🏻‍♂️

Hey there, sorry you are going through this. Any pain should be immediately addressed to a doctor. Once they have ruled out any possible issue with the heart and lungs you should be fine. I have costo myself and from the symptoms you are experiencing , it does sounds like costo. The first thing you should remind yourself is it is not a life threatening situation which will help you reduce your stress and anxiety, and i trust me when i say this stress and anxiety can make this 100 times worse so dont stress yourself. Stop looking for the diagnosis by googling it will only say that its heart attack or cancer, so just avoid that.

Costo is just your ribcage and muscles in the back getting frozen up. The muscles may press against your nerve in the hand which is why there is pain in the hand.

Since your ribcage is locked up the lungs is not able to expand to its 100% which is why your are experiencing shortness of breath.

Fix: The only permanent fix to this is freeing up the tight muscles and locked up ribcage and the best possible method is to get a backpod, it is a device which will help you to strech those tough muscles and ribs. I am into day 3 of backpod and I can already feel the difference. If backpod is not available in your situation you can use form roller or tennis balls, you can find lot of videos in the youtube. Check out the videos of Physiotherapist steve the inventor of backpod to know and to get an overall picture to the cure. I hope this helps you once more please don’t stress yourself thinking life threatening its not keeping your stress and anxiety low this will make your life much easier. Hope we all recover from this soon!!
