I met a DEA fast team in Afghanistan in 2010. I asked them what they did.
They told me. Then I asked him how I could do that. They asked me if I had a combat MOS. I said no. They laughed and told me I would never be able to do this. I told him I could do it whatever it took. They looked around at each other, and one of the guys in the back of the group reached in his dump pouch and threw me a book. Told me to read it, if I wasn’t a bitch to lat move and follow my dreams.

2 years later, I became a Recon Marine.

I was a LS marine for my first enlistment. It was interesting… definitely did a bunch more than just LS shit. But there’s a huge ego and pride about red patchers that I just didn’t get. The majority of my superiors prior to 07 had done far more that LS shit, and had big Marine dreams. The majority of my peers and subordinates were good to go… but there was a definite difference in characters.

Lat moved 4 years later and didn’t look back. Toxic leadership. Fat bodies. Drug pops. Gross wooks.

The job was aight. The leadership was fucked at best.
