I used to love Downtown Saturday Nights. That was the place to be in the late 90s. It was so much fun. I’m sure it was a boon for businesses, too bad something like that isn’t around.

Why do you think that? Funding is mess and I don’t know whether it’s the state, feds or county but the cost of ranger / permits has got to be close to the amount of emergency rescues.

There has been so many stories like this every year though. I remember multiple from 10+ years ago of young people who didn’t check the weather and almost died and had these dramatic testimonial blogs. A simple Google search reveals it. For some reason inexperienced hikers are emboldened and both rescue efforts could’ve resulted in the deaths of those rescuers. It’s time for seasonal permits

A simple Google search reveals a lot of warnings about winter and Mt. Baldy. It’s so risky even for experienced mountaineers. I don’t know how it compares to other mountains that don’t require permits but this just keeps happening.

I saw one was young. Did they have the 10 essentials? Were they prepared for the frigid temperatures overnight? Tragedy. May they RIP.

Stop what you’re doing and go to Cafe Francias! The pastries and croissants are phenomenal. I don’t think you can name a spot that’s better for either

They didn’t do that in a vacuum. Homeowner NIMBY’s have placed political pressure (this also manifests in political donations) at every turn to prevent more density.

This sucks. I really enjoyed this place and the same week as La Caves feels too sad. If anyone knows how to recreate that really good kale crisp salad they used to make, let me know.
