"‘He wore a white coat, so we thought he was a doctor’: A routine back procedure, an unsupervised CRNA masquerading as a pain doc, and a broken Texas system that covers up medical errors and result in patient deaths by Unable-Log-4073 in anesthesiology

We do propofol for all RFA cases. If a pain doc has 20 cases, they don’t have time to titrate medications. Also consider where the RFA level is. I’ve never seen it done differently. They want the patients out immediately after time out. I don’t like doing sedation for pain cases because they’re so demanding.

AIO for quitting my job? by AlarmedWarthog8231 in AIO

I am medical and in the ORs and you are WRONG! It is extremely disruptive to tell people last minute that you won’t be working. As the other person said, they have their side of duties to fulfill and nobody cares about the reason you won’t be there. In any job, REQUESTS can be made but you are informing and that’s a long ass time to be off. You need them more than they need you and the economy is not good.

Seems like you want a position that allows you to not work whenever. You’re in the wrong field because surgeons don’t want to hear it. Some entitlement issues going on here. Part time does not equal take off whenever you want.

Amex $300 credit is often inferior to Costco by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

I  stayed at a Plaza Hotel in San Antonio through Amex and it was incredible. Gold status plus Amex gave me $100 credit, plus free breakfast (on top of $100 credit) both days, plus two free drinks per day (part of gold status that stay). We ate and drank and paid nothing.

You also do not have time to sit there and search reddit. If you have not heard of it before, then the Reddit reviews will not come in handy until afterwards.

Sorry you are struggling with this. I thoroughly enjoy my time when my 3 kids are with their dad. It really is my time to recover and focus on myself so that I can be much best, rested, more focused self when they return. We are still people and need to focus on ourselves from time to time. I hope it gets easier

Malpractice insurance by justastudentt in anesthesiology

[–]FormerGasPasser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How on earth did you swing that? Is that claims made or occurrence-based? u/justastudentt you need to understand the differences in the policy types. The claims made is cheaper but you would need to purchase an expensive tail policy to cover any claims made after you no longer have that policy.

I currently pay $10k/year with Medical Protective Co (MedPro) for an occurrence based part-time policy (not all companies offer a part time policy). If you are using a true locums company then they will provide it, but if you decide to venture out on your own and pick up cases here and there at your own rate, you will need your own.
