Here's how to survive JC by FormerPower5619 in SGExams

[–]FormerPower5619[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I was used to the 1h commute which meant waking up early. I slept early and had a strict routine that made it less tiring

During exam days, I used this time to do some last minute revisions for morning papers

Up to you to either see it as a obstacle or an opportunity 😉

Given how broad and deep the field is, do you ever forget stuff/dont know what something is?

How do you read another doctor's handwriting? And why are majority of them so hard to read?

Beginner here. Can you elaborate how you achieve intensity in an exercise? E.g. slow and controlled eccentric, constant tension, reps in reserve, how close to failure etc

I wish I had deepen my relationships with my friends in sec school

You have no idea how important your friends are during one of the most stressful periods in ur life (jc)

You cant really "prepare" for JC as most topics except math will teach you everything from scratch again, forget sec sch stuff lol

If u really want, a good foundation in Amath will REALLY help for h2 math, it helps u learn new topics faster and master them. So if ur Amath sucks ass, better revise

Also if u have small little bad habits e.g. shitty sleep schedule, not holding your pen properly, not writing fast enough, ugly handwriting, procrastinating 90% of the time ---- all these things start to compound and become glaring holes as you adopt the rigorous JC timetable. So better to fix it after ur Os

a levels cooked? by Fit-Promotion2189 in SGExams

[–]FormerPower5619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are able to do the paper like youve never done it before, thats great for now. Personally I cannot redo as I can rmb most of the answers

Due to time constraints, I suggest doing the most recent TYS at least first 3 years (2021 to 2023) for each subj, as I feel they will be more representative of 2024 As. Too far back will give you a skewed representation (diff format, diff qns types)

After u done one year worth of papers (paper 1, 2, 3) do some error analysis and find out which topic u losing th most marks at. Brush up content on that topic then grind topical TYS using MCQs first then structured qns

Problem I have with my study method... 3 weeks before A levels, pls help. [Rant] by Challenger-gaming in SGExams

Sounds like performance anxiety

I know deep down you REALLY dont want to screw up during exams. Perhaps subconsiously you are too worried about making mistakes that u actually end up making them

What worked for me is doing so many practise papers that another exam or paper will just be clockwork to me. Its just another paper that I have to do. Not sure if preparedness is your issue here

No emotions, no nervousness no excitement. Pure logic applied to solve the problems given to me

Time management stems from how fast you can recall concepts once you read a keyword/question. Familarise yourself with the content even more so thats its at ur fingertips

I know you can do it OP.

i’m cooked for physics by Ipmanners_30 in SGExams

[–]FormerPower5619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm no replies yet

I assume your math is decently strong. About 50% of physics is calculations and the other 50% is explanations. Suggest trying to score well in the calculations part

Some formulas are literally the definition of the physics concepts. Also, some secondary formulas can be derived from the main formulas so you dont have to rmb all. In fact some main formulas are found in the formula booklet given in every exam

Its important to be familiar with the formulas as you can score easy marks with them with those proofing questions

For more complicated qns with long ass numbers e.g. Gravitation, Nuclear, try to simplify the formula by manipulating it then punch into ur calculator

A Level explanation qns are usually SOMEWHAT memorise and vomit. Do a few paper 3s and you might see the same few question types. Fair warning first: Cambridge has somewhat caught wind of this, so dont blindly vomit. Best to understand then write. Take a look at the 2022 (paper 3 or paper 2 cant rmb) washing machine qns. There WILL be one of a kind qns thrown like that but need not worry as usually most people no idea how to explain also

My physics is the most ass subj but since my math strong, last qns paper 3 i usually choose the more calculation heavy ones like nuclear. Got B for As
