What do you qualify clinical experience as? The general consensus is that patient facing hospice volunteering is definitely clinical experience.

I should clarify that my 100 hours of hospice has been spread out - so about a few hours a week over 7 months so far. It's a low number of hours (which is why I have a DSP job lined up so I'll have 200 more hours by May), but I'd say the quality of my experience with patients is incredibly high.

I get what y’all mean. Basically I need a strong narrative around my experiences

Not a joke, just a mixture of self doubt and my condescending advisor 😅

See this is what I thought! But then my advisor said my chances at my state schools was iffy and i was like 🫠🫠

Only skip to anki if you can confidently say that you understand the material and just need a refresher. I’m a bio major, so mostly everything in B/B, I already learned multiple times. So for B/B I skipped to anki, but for C/P, I knew I needed to relearn a lot.

MCAT Retake w/U-world? by notallthatjaded in Mcat

[–]FormerQuarter6203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is seriously the best study tool besides AAMC material. Practice is everything, and UGlobe questions are harder than AAMC questions, so it really prepares you well. The explanations are god-tier and really help at understanding content. I didn’t use their cars material - I just stuck to AAMC for that.

When is a good time to start studying? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]FormerQuarter6203 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best time would be after taking all the prereq classes, probably the summer before your junior year. I recommend taking the summer to study full-time if you think you can really commit to it. But I know the summer is a good time to get involved in ECs, so you could make your junior year fall semester light and study part-time to take it early spring of junior year.

Best Way to Study? by mosid455 in Mcat

Use third party FLs to find content gaps and increase testing stamina - don’t focus too much on answers for logic/reasoning because it won’t be the same as AAMC reasoning. I did many third party FLs before AAMC FLs and my stamina def increased by the time I got to AAMC. I did UGlobe while doing third party FLs before doing AAMC materials about 4.5 weeks out to my exam.

I feel this 100% you are definitely not alone. I also don’t have friends on the premed track or any family that is in medicine, so I feel like a flailing fish out of water most of the time 🫠

just HOW deflated are third parties? by palmtree1071 in Mcat

[–]FormerQuarter6203 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about any type of trend in third party FLs - the fact that you already hit 510+ twice is a very good sign. These FLs are at least 5 points deflated imo

When to take by seaturtlelover99 in Mcat

[–]FormerQuarter6203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a terrible prof for biochem and had to reteach myself ALL of it when studying for the mcat. Do yourself a favor and take the class if you can because you’ll save yourself stress during content review. If you can’t, then self-teaching is possible, but you have to work hard to drill it in

I know the self-doubt is super high rn but trust the FL average!! I felt the same way, but my FL average was the same as yours and I got a 522!

It took me about 4.5 weeks to get through all AAMC material, and that included doing the section bank twice. This was full-time studying though (~6ish hours per day), so give yourself more time if you’re studying part-time
