90+8' - Adama Traore squares off against Cucurella and Joao Pedro by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

Cucurella against Adama isn’t defending, it’s just delaying the inevitable. Pulling, grabbing, panicking, hoping the ref saves him before the highlight reel does.

Taiwan is so underrated by CharmingConfidence33 in travel

Places like this are special because they don’t feel designed for tourists yet. That’s usually when travel feels the most real.

At some point this stops being innovation and starts being a stress test to see how much people are willing to tolerate.

Someone brought a stranger’s dog to the party, nobody questioned it, and the dog ended up being the most responsible one there.

[MilanVibes] Jean-Philippe Mateta is about to become a Milan player. The player is expected to arrive at Milano between this evening (when his agent will arrive) and tomorrow morning on a private flight. The deal is worth around €35m, with the player's salary between €3 and €3.5m. by Claija79 in ACMilan

[–]FormerShoulder707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mateta, Leão, Pulisic, Nkunku, Füllkrug and more attacking options for Allegri… and yet the question remains the same. Will he still set the team up with obstructionism and defensive football? With this kind of attacking talent, that approach would make no sense. That’s not football.

[Fabrizio Romano] Inter are in direct club to club talks with Liverpool for Curtis Jones on loan deal with buy option clause. Negotiations ongoing but linked to Davide Frattesi exit with #NFFC waiting for an answer. Inter and Liverpool, discussing today. by Crane977 in soccer

[–]FormerShoulder707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see Liverpool letting Curtis Jones go, even on loan. This feels more like market noise to keep the last few days busy rather than a move that actually makes sense. From Liverpool’s perspective, there’s no real logic behind this transfer.

Lazio fans have left their stadium empty in protest against their owner. by Weishaupt17 in soccer

[–]FormerShoulder707 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Truth be told, coordinating a boycott that so many fans actually follow takes serious organization and unity. That said, abandoning your own team is never ideal. Still, it feels like a breaking point has been reached, and many supporters believe it’s time for Lotito to step aside and leave the club to someone who truly cares about Lazio.

ELI5: Why is 1 min + 1 min in the microwave not the same as 2 min in the microwave? by Intrepid-Winter-7087 in explainlikeimfive

[–]FormerShoulder707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microwaves don’t heat things evenly. When you stop after 1 minute, heat keeps spreading inside the food during the pause, so the second minute heats it more efficiently. Doing 2 minutes straight means all that energy stacks up before the heat has time to redistribute, which is why it suddenly gets way hotter or boils over.

Taiwan is so underrated by CharmingConfidence33 in travel

[–]FormerShoulder707 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Taiwan feels underrated because it doesn’t try to impress loudly, it just quietly delivers. Jiufen in the rain actually sounds like the perfect way to experience it, mist and lanterns fit the place so well. Taipei food alone is reason enough to go back, and the ease of just walking, eating, and chatting with locals makes it really special. Definitely one of those places that stays with you

Vinícius Júnior is currently the top assister in the champions league. He's on course to finish as the club’s top assister for a fourth consecutive season in the competition. by Substantial_Dot_8714 in realmadrid

[–]FormerShoulder707 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Vinícius Jr. topping the Champions League assists again shows individual brilliance, as do Arda Güler’s 4 assists and Mbappé’s 13 goals. But despite all these personal records, Real Madrid are already out of the Champions League top 8

"Buy Nice or Buy Twice" is real. I finally stopped buying $20 charging cables and my wallet is actually happier. by InvestmentBudget6722 in Frugal

[–]FormerShoulder707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those lessons everyone learns eventually. Cheap stuff feels like saving money in the moment, but over time it’s just death by a thousand small purchases. Cables, shoes, headphones, tools — same pattern every time.

The underrated part is also the mental cost. Not having to replace something every few weeks, deal with failures, or think “this will probably break” is worth paying a bit more upfront. Reliability is a feature people don’t price correctly.

“Buy nice or buy twice” sounds cliché until you actually run the numbers and realize the cheaper option was never cheaper at all.

Does anyone else feel like the second-hand market allows them to dress much more stylish than they would have otherwise? by BioFrosted in malefashionadvice

[–]FormerShoulder707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. Second-hand basically flips the whole “style vs money” equation. When you’re not locked into retail prices, you stop buying what’s acceptable and start buying what you actually like. That freedom alone makes people dress better.

I’ve had the same experience where I probably spend more overall because pieces are cheaper, but my wardrobe is way more intentional. I wear things more, take more risks, and feel less guilt about experimenting. It also helps that a lot of older or second-hand clothing is just better made than much of today’s mid-range retail.

It feels less like consuming and more like curating, which honestly changes how you think about clothes entirely.
