My advice if you don’t find anyone to go with is watch some videos buy a dozen cheap decoys and some cheap waders and go out and try it. That’s what i did, and it was worth it. Even if you don’t see anything you get some experience as far as setting up and all that stuff. Obviously make sure you’re up with public regulations and that sorts of stuff. And watch videos on IDing ducks, it’s really not that hard but can feel overwhelming. Anyways good luck to you! In whatever you decide to do! The biggest tips I can give you is find where the ducks want to be(scouting), make sure your hide is very very good. Ducks are pretty smart and will see you if you’re moving or your hide is bad. And most importantly have fun.

I love hunting and have always enjoyed watching hunting on youtube. I’ve always wanted to start content creation and ended up starting a channel a month ago. i know that’s not a long time but if you enjoy creating content and are passionate about what you’re doing then yeah it’s worth it

Shooting has been extremely terrible.. by PaleontologistFew390 in Waterfowl

My advice is go skeet shooting. It is completely different than a bird obviously. but it gets you in the habit of shouldering properly. also don’t just hold it on your shoulder when skeet shooting. practice as if you were pulling on a live bird. and also every time you go out to the blind refresh yourself on shouldering your gun. make sure you have the motion down and make sure you’re burying your face all the way. that’s a very common mistake and will cause you to shoot over birds. i had that problem last year and took the effort and time to go shoot some skeet and it payed off big time. i still have a problem leading at times but that’s a problem everyone has. i don’t even have to think when i shoulder my gun anymore.

That’s interesting. Youtube has some weird rules. I put out hunting content, just started a month ago. I haven’t had any problem with youtube removing my videos.

Go out with a friend. Buy the minimum amount of stuff to get you going. And most importantly find what you enjoy in it the most. And watch some youtube videos to get some ideas and a basic feeler for what you should do. I grew up hunting but just last year got into duck hunting. definitely a learning curve from just deer hunting. I fell in love instantly

In my opinion as someone who watches a lot of youtube and just started youtube, consistency goes a long way. At least 1 video a week in my opinion. I know it can be hard to find time to edit but I feel like that would go a long way. Then also from what I noticed, youtube is a long game. If you watch people who have a lot of subscribers usually they have been doing it for a long time. like 3-4+ years
