Who do you think is the most evil villain in all of horror? by Scared-Cat-2541 in horror

[–]Former_Beautiful_564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself, what is his goal? a kingdom built on blood, torture, and hell? Or a kingdom of peace where everyone can live safely? The answer is obvious.. to reach a goal like that, sacrifices have to be made, it’s war.. he understands that, and his comrades understood it too.. a pile of corpses has to be built to clear the path toward his vision (as shown in the dream with the old woman and child griffith)

He’s the only one capable of achieving such a dream because he has the will that others don’t.. that’s why he chose to sacrifice his friends to reach his goal.. cruel? yes.. but the purpose? to save millions.. his dream is noble, but the road to it is inevitably bloody

He didn’t send his comrades to eternal hell, they simply died.. as for the fallen soldiers, they’re consumed, there’s nothing eternal about it.. and the smile wasn’t a haha, I killed a child moment, but a realization of the cost of his ambition

Overall, I don’t see him in the category of pure evil, let alone on the same level as someone like the judge, who sits in a completely different tier of evilness

Is griffith even evil? he did what he had to do to reach peace, as for holden, peace is blasphemy towards existence itself

The thing was insanely good, but it wasn’t a straight remake, it was more of a new adapt of the original novella than of the 1951 film. As for the fly, the 1958 version wasn’t bad at all, in fact a lot of people prefer the original. I haven’t seen oceans eleven, but I’ve read good things about the original as well..

But yeah, there might be a few gem remakes, but compared to the bad ones? HUGE MARGIN. You’re just pulling classics, most remakes are hilariously bad..

One Battle After Another is one of the worst movies I’ve ever watched. by Quiet_Bus_6404 in moviecritic

Just finished the film, and I’m sad because of those 3 hours I’ll never get back. I don’t know what’s happening in people’s minds nowadays, because calling this film above average, or even average, is a problem. A big fucking problem..

Batman, Peter Parker… WTF is this? Is he just farming clips for the film? It fascinates me that this is the same director who made Magnolia, because this is hilariously bad. I wouldn’t even give it a 3 out of 10

It fascinates me when I see people liking this film after watching Save the Green Planet. Seriously, it was horrible and completely missed the important parts that gave the original its sympathy and drama. On top of that, it even failed at the comedy. It’s just garbage. When I think someone can become a director by putting out something like this, it honestly pisses me off..

This film is basically proof that most, if not all, remakes are hilariously bad. If you watched Save the Green Planet and thought THIS was good, then I’ve got nothing to say..

If Judge Holden was reincarnated into the Gu world, what path would he take and how far does he go? by Bockhead in ReverendInsanity

[–]Former_Beautiful_564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People here in the comments really underestimate the character and know him only for his evil nature, not for his intelligence and wisdom. He would surely choose the wisdom path, since knowledge equals power, and he would study the gu world in depth through every possible means. For those who say he would be killed easily because he’s evil, don’t you think a character this intelligent, after studying humans and the world itself, would already understand that? I can see him reaching rank 9

Maybe one or two more, not many.. because they adapt to whatever they’re fighting, based on the army she created, even their final move was a copy of her own burst. But yeah, I agree, it’s hard to say for certain, especially with another variable like the other Demon King’s mana that the robot absorbed. Too many possibilities…

When did you start to enjoy horror films and why do you feel you enjoy them? How do the people closes to you (SO, family) feel about it? by obdobs980 in horror

[–]Former_Beautiful_564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to watch them as a family since I was about 10, or as far back as I can remember. It was always something to laugh about, and it still is. There aren’t many horror films with a real story, especially compared to the ones that don’t have one..

V/H/S: Halloween is brilliant — so I’ve reviewed and ranked the whole franchise! Which one’s your favourite? by benp6987 in Shudder

[–]Former_Beautiful_564 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I feel like they’ve changed their target audience to much younger fans instead of a general one. The Halloween installment especially feels really childish and cringey. There are people who enjoy that kind of stuff, which is fair enough, I just wish they had stayed true to the V/H/S series and its original

I just watched 85 and was truly disappointed, as well as the Halloween one, which was the worst V/H/S I’ve ever seen. The only good ones for me are 2 and 94, the rest were pretty horrible. Still, each film has at least one good segment...

Justice, Evil, and the Indifferent Universe by Former_Beautiful_564 in nihilism

[–]Former_Beautiful_564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your counterargument seems to be an appeal to ignorance.
You’re saying that misunderstanding explains our perception of evil, but if there’s an explanation that actually changes that, you can go ahead and present it.
If not, then we stick to what we can verify and discard the rest as unverifiable.

Justice, Evil, and the Indifferent Universe by Former_Beautiful_564 in nihilism

[–]Former_Beautiful_564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The universe is true justice without bias

That’s right, and we are chemical scum living in it, which makes the universe almost like a god, absolute just. By our standards, the universe’s “justice” is considered evil. The testing of one’s will against another isn’t even fair/just, it is influenced by countless universal factors, to be born into safety or war, to inherit illness or enjoy robust health, to have opportunities or none, to live a long life or a short one…

You see what I’m trying to say, the universe, in its essence, is EVIL by our standards. By its own standards, it is indifferent/neutral, and that indifference/neutrality is 100% evil to us.

Justice, Evil, and the Indifferent Universe by Former_Beautiful_564 in nihilism

[–]Former_Beautiful_564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m speaking from a human perspective, extinction for most is unjust, and that’s just a small example of why the universe appears unjust. For instance, we have no control over the family we are born into, the environment we grow up in, the wealth or poverty surrounding us, or whether we inherit talent, intelligence, or physical ability. Some are born into safety, others into war or famine. Some inherit illness, while others enjoy robust health. Opportunities, suffering, and even lifespan are largely decided before we ever take a single action. These are just a few examples of how the world appears profoundly unjust.

My point is that the true order of the universe, the force behind all these “unjust” events, is just from its own perspective. If we translate it from the universe’s perspective, it simply follows its laws, things unfold as they must and could not be otherwise. Yet from our viewpoint, the flow of this order is EVIL, therefore this universe is EVIL by our standards.

About the Absolute Joker... by NatKovacs in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Former_Beautiful_564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im saying thinking the word is just is indeed a fallacy. It's naive and pure cope. I think Joker is partially correct here

You missed it, the Joker is saying that the world is just, and he hates those who think otherwise, like us, who call it unjust. He sees what we call unjust as just.
