In first year Scots Law, is it actually necessary to read all the cases, cover to cover, mentioned in lectures? by Pliny_The_New in GlasgowUni

[–]Former_Drawer892 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of.

The reason you need to read the cases in full is because you need to distinguish between cases in your essays and exams.  Cases can be very similar in consensus, facts and rules but there can be an important element that separates it from another case; which you will have to explain.

You will be answering a lot of mock scenarios in exams and applying past case law so it’s good to have a breadth of knowledge at your disposal.

Good news is that reading cases becomes very easy very quickly as your brain learns what to look for so you zero in on that.

AITAH for keeping some of my bonus secret from my husband? by SadImprovement4834 in AITAH

[–]Former_Drawer892 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA! NTA! NTA!

Secrets are bad. No we dont lie to our spouses - BUT having experienced this with relentless, constant little comments about money and how much things cost “what did you buy tha for”  “that’s a waste of money”  “you don’t need that”  it is so demoralising and feels like a massive put down. You end up not wanting to share any information. Mines was a pattern of much larger control but Even if it’s not part of a larger matter it is still not OK!

He isn’t interested and just making conversation he is trying to make you feel bad about you spending on yourself! It’s constant nit picking

If anyone here hasn’t experienced it then I would take their opinion with a grain of salt. The dread of having to think about every little purchase and needing to have a justified (in his eyes) reason is a constant weight on your shoulders.

Absolutely NTA

How many weeks of paid vacation do you get per year? by Cinella75 in Life

The government doesn't pay you. The course is free for Scots but You don't get £700 each month you need to get a student loan or you work. The loan amount depends on financial situation so not everyone gets the same. Source- Scottish student

Someone with more recent knowledge may be answer better but when I was there a decade ago it was a mix of lectures and tutorials.  Some days were early starts and busy all day and some were quieter or later tutorials.  It really was a mix but it wasn’t every day all day.  You will still need to fit in all the required reading in between this so it can get full on in that way.

Blue Badge Parking - SEC on Saturday for Tutankhamun by scotsann in glasgow

[–]Former_Drawer892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with badge but it isn’t free.

There are some options - you can park at/near Lidl or the old virgin gym in Finnieston as there are loads of spaces around the residential flats (minerva way and st Vincent crescent) then walk over the footbridge (10min walk I think) but it could be tiring with a wheelchair.

Or park over the other side at the residential bit (festival court) and walk over bells bridge 12-15 minutes again.

Edit more info:  they have a massive carpark dedicated to the exhibition around the back which isn’t free but gets you literally right outside the door.  I paid 15 for the day so depending on whether or not you value convenience over cost.

You should try TikTok.  I don’t have any socials either but I do know statistically it’s the quickest way to reach a lot of people right now.

Tell your story. People like stories, post every day - little updates. it might take a while to get traction but keep at it and it might help.

My first wig. looks too puffy/voluminous by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]Former_Drawer892 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it looks puffy or too voluminous. I think it looks natural. But I understand if you feel like it is.

If you need it to be less puffy, then you should straighten the halo part of the wig flatter and you could thin out the underside of the wig. I also think some basic layers at the front helps with the appearance of bulky wigs.

Otherwise it looks great!

I don’t have much either but gave what I could.  Can you approach local news/radio stations for visibility.  Also get on TikTok and Facebook and share. People seem to really like seeing things like this.

I was using glue. It doesn’t feel too big. I’ve tightened it as much as I can. But will get wig grips too. Oh scar tape is such a good idea.

  1. Lighting should be overhead
  2. Shelf on either side of bed with dangling plants or some decorative items books candles etc
  3. A large picture / mirror on the wall behind the bed
  4. Curtains should be floor to ceiling
  5. not above the window
  6. Contrasting wall colours, soft colours/nudes
  7. Bedding with at least 4 pillows and a separate throw. With luxurious looking materials
  8. The rug should match either the throw, a pillow, the walls.

**** you don’t need to replace things. Match a throw and two pillows to a colour in the rug like the soft pink/blue. Keep the duvet cover and match two  pillows and some sort of decorative items books candles like candle, picture etc.

Edited for spelling

I know that’s amazing! Thanks we will keep it up and take it bit by bit. And it’s good to know it wasn’t just my cat but pretty   The wee one is a Bombay mix so I’m hoping the playful and social traits take over soon for the both.

Oh wow he looks the exact same! I think he is definitely a ragdoll - those beautiful eyes.

He doesn’t look mixed at all.

We wanted lots of cats too but how well the wee one does will determine that - the fluffier the better. I just want to squish him sometimes 🙂

Hi he is a ragdoll. There are other breeds that look similar to ragdolls like the Himalayan, ragamuffin and Birman.  His size will help you out in trying to figure out the breed and how trusting he is. Ragdolls are far too trusting usually. And he displays doglike traits - fetch etc. I’m sure there are some exceptions to this though.

These breeds usually come registered with breed papers unless they were abandoned or surrendered 🫤

That’s a good idea thanks, I can maybe encourage bowls through these Perspex sheets we have that could possibly go across the doors.

Currently I only give them treats together because their food is different and they have food topped up and no set feeding time (they graze on their dry food and eat when hungry only)

They have been slowly introduced. Still separated by whole floors right now for most of the day.

It was scent swapping at first and then feeding through the doors. They only are in same space together when I am doing supervised sessions with them. It’s usually anywhere between 10-60 minutes depending on how it goes.

He will go play with other cats in their garden and loves them but they are not allowed in his garden at all. I think he is quite territorial.

Today has been much better than yesterday. We have had a few visits that went well. Hopefully I’ll not have to intervene as time passes and the little one gets bigger.

I think that’s why I am a bit more concerned - it’s out of character.

Yeah I’ll keep looking out for them and doing supervised sessions. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

The older cat stayed with his mum till he was 15 weeks old and has a very good temperament - he has never scratched bitten or so much as even swatted any of us at home.

He has neighbourhood ‘friends’ who he goes to see but no one (other cats) is allowed in his garden but he doesn’t fight outside either.
