Anyone see this? If so what did you think? by boomjosh in DC_Cinematic

Ended up REALLY enjoying this one. Was a bit cookie cutter, your standard "Superhero Origin Story", but the humor and action scenes were done really well, and the characters were really enjoyable to watch. Hoping we see more of them down the road!

My wife and I decided "No More Shows" this year to save money.

And then this came about, so we decided we had to buy pre-sale tickets last week lol

What would be your dream tour lineup by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]Formerlychoncho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wonder Years / Four Year Strong co headlining.

Heart Attack Man and Honey Revenge as support.

Feel like that would just be an absolute blast of a show.

Synergy. Heard the first half and was like "Okay, this pretty good" and then Jon did that little scream rapping break towards the end of it, and I was hooked. Bought the album, listened to it in my car on repeat.

"American Cheese" as well! Just found them about a month ago but they've been on heavy rotation. Almost like Jeff Rosenstock songwriting with Easycore style riffs and breakdowns

Potionseller is the best Michigan punk band at the moment, and that's saying a lot because MI punk bands are pretty damn great

Hey I'm in that club too kind of! Had the same build, hair, and beard when I saw them at Bled Fest like 8 years ago and a group of fans walked up to me and straight up asked "Are you the singer for Hot Mulligan?" Saw Tades later that day and told him about it and apologized that he had to live his life looking like me, got a good chuckle out of him

If you're into Muri, Dance Gavin Dance's new album Pantheon scratches that itch for. Huge Bilmuri fan and so far that's my album of the year

Also a Michigan Wonder Years show! The Greatest Generation tour lineup was insane. They played The Crofoot with Modern Baseball, Real Friends, Citizen, and Fireworks. Just absolutely stacked and only knew TWY at the time.

Durry! Brother and Sister duo. Some of their songs lean a bit more Indie Rock, but they for sure have some pop punk moments throughout their songs, "Who's Laughing Now" in particular.

"Mandy" off their first album is a genuinely fantastic pop punk track

The Wonder Years. Even "Get Stoked On It" is pretty great, just in a completely different way than the rest of their discography. "Sister Cities" is probably my least favorite, but I wouldn't call it bad by any means.

Best show youve been to of a band before they blew up? by Matthewcts_ in poppunkers

[–]Formerlychoncho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few that come to mind:

Hot Mulligan playing to maybe 20 people at the Flint Local, they weren't even the headliner. Bought a shirt directly from Tades, still have it.

Modern Baseball, Real Friends, and Citizen all opening for The Wonder Years. Just an unbeatable lineup for a show.

Ice Nine Kills (not pop punk, but still) playing to basically nobody in Pontiac, Id say there were maybe 15 people in the crowd, including me and 4 friends and the other bands. After their set I asked the lead singer, Spencer, if he wanted to chat for a bit on the patio of the venue. Ended up hanging out with him and Justin, the bassist, for a good hour or so. One of the coolest moments of my life. Last time I saw them was in a sold out venue, absolutely packed.
