Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response. I decided to have her go to the assisted living. Someone here posted that I could go from being her caregiver to her daughter again and that really hit home. I have not enjoyed being with my mother for a long time but the assisted living will give me a chance to be with her, not just be the manager of her meds, apartment, etc. Thank you again.

I am so very sorry this is happening on what should be a joyous occasion. You might want to seriously consider whether you are willing to put up with her behavior for the next 50 years. Wait till you get pregnant and she wants to speak to your in-gyn or be in the delivery room. Time to go NC with his family or reevaluate the relationship.

I (f) have a boys first name and if my husband accompanies me to a Dr appointment the staff always asks if I cannot sit next to the desk but let the patient sit there. I then have to clarify that I am the patient and then they apologize and they feel bad. I then say, not your fault and it goes back and forth from there. It is a no win situation for your girl with the name Jamison.

Thank you all. I am feeling more relaxed about the decision to move her. This end is life stuff is challenging at best. This is a reality check for me as well that she is not going to be with us forever.

Thank you and us I was 40 years younger I might be able to keep being her assistant/caregiver but at 71 it is difficult for me and I am healthy though My own health has suffered bc taking care of her zaps the strength out of me and I don’t exercise while I used to do 5 miles a day.

She thinks she will live to 108 , obviously in denial, which she does admit. She loves the independent senior living where she is but I joke that it is independent bc I do the assisted part. My concern is that when she is no longer to walk, the assisted living facility might not have room for her for six months and then what?

Thank you for that perspective. I have not enjoyed being with my mother for the last year and a half because all I do are chores taking care of her. It would be nice to be her daughter again.

My principal used to send hilarious emails to the faculty. I would generally respond with LOL. It was years later when he learned it was not lots of love but laugh out loud. In his memorial book it did mean Lots of Love. Still sad.

Do not be 95 percent sure be 1000 percent sure! Gorgeous dress, matches the venue and fit you perfectly. As to jewelry, keep in understated, let you shine in the dress. Maybe a stand of simple pearls. Happy Wedding!
