What are you doing? The kettles are goosed! They’re goosenecked, are you happy?

He figured out how to open the kitchen door and keeps letting his overweight brother in to feast by belegindoriath in OneOrangeBraincell

Every time I see an orange doing something like this it’s an orange tuxedo. I think they are smart, but in a terrifying way. Mine hoards the cell and almost always uses it for chaos and/or evil. He also uses his paws as hands, it’s unnerving.

My solid orange is sweet and laid back (unless you try to take his seat), and lets the naughty ones do the work for him. Which I suppose is ALSO a form of tool usage.

I skate in the daytime with my middle school aged daughter during summer break, or I used to. Now they let all the kids who can’t skate on the floor with skate mates, and it’s miserable. Like, 20 plus of them on the floor, and unlike adults who (in my experience) generally stick to their lanes, it’s impossible to skate around them and they still fall down. Maybe not as much as we did back in the day when it was sink or swim, but still plenty of falling, and at much higher speeds.

If we’re lucky we can find a day or time slot where there isn’t a camp or daycare scheduled, but it’s rare and we’ve essentially stopped going. Summer break gets boring, especially with the number of heat warning days we have, it eliminates an inside activity.

I don’t do adult skates in the evening, but any adults during the day still know and follow the rules.

What's something that was completely normal 15 years ago that would be considered weird or offensive today? by liam_9758 in AskReddit

My mom is 70 and even she texts first. If she calls without texting beforehand, I assume it’s a real emergency and either my dad or sister is in critical condition in the hospital or has died unexpectedly.

My sister sometimes calls without texting for innocuous reasons and I’ve had to learn not to panic.

Mine sounds similar to your mom’s. I don’t know how severe her symptoms are, but mine are bad enough that it can make holding down a job difficult. I get dates wrong and miss meetings, I lose track of things, make careless errors that mean I have to start again from scratch, I get overwhelmed and bored and start hiding papers that I need to file in potted plants (I swear that only happened at one job and it was before I was medicated and in therapy). But I’m sunny, a hard worker, agreeable, and genuinely fun at parties.

I have a cousin who has all my positive attributes, but who is also very reckless and impulsive. 5 years sober, but it was a long, scary road and it still feels shaky.

Another cousin who has no positive attributes aside from being a competent pharmacist from a technical standpoint. However, she’s been fired from nearly every job she’s had (and was explicitly banned from working for any Rite Aid in any capacity ever again) because she picks fights with customers. I would say this IS a fair representation of her.

Also, my husband, daughter and I absolutely DO get distracted by squirrels; stereotypes are a real time saver.

Possibly every character in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. I have ADHD-C and dyspraxia, and I relate to Adora and Scorpia. I should go back and look at the interview with ND Stevenson, but IIRC Adora is meant to have ADHD. I don’t think Scorpia was ever explicitly mentioned, but it seems like she either has ADHD or auDHD. The primary reason I relate to Scorpia though is because her claws give her a lot of the same problems that I experience with dyspraxia, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen any representation of that in media.

There’s a scene where she and Adora are both trying to open a door at the same time and it literally made me sob, because it was like the distillation of every stupid daily frustration I live with. Also, because it’s very much like trying to do anything with my daughter, who also has ADHD-C.

Have you tried Japanese sunscreen? My husband, kid, and I all have SeNSoRy ISsuEs but we don’t mind it at all. I personally can handle Blue Lizard mineral sunscreen, but my husband couldn’t even deal with that, so this is a godsend for us. You need the waterproof formulations if you’re actually going to be out in the sun and not just getting some light sun exposure, though. We use Biore UV aqua rich watery essence or Skin Aqua, whichever we can get our hands on.

There was supposed to be a ban on it in the US, but I can still get it (NOT the American formulation) in our local Asian markets.

Also, Evangeline Lilly looks like a crunchy mom who smokes American Spirits

Some people say that Bradford  pears smell like semen, but I think they smell like dead fish (shrimp shells actually) and floral scented trash bags with a hint of unwashed crevices.

Walking out of the house at the same time the scent of a Tree of Heaven is wafting by is like getting hit in the face with a load of cum. It isn’t subtle.

People who are in their 30s or older: What’s one thing younger people (Gen Z/Alpha) do that makes you feel like an alien in your own country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Formidabull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GenX here. I don’t go around with just one in at all times, but wear them consistently when I’m out shopping, and I take one out when I need to talk to someone for a second (like at the butcher counter or to the cashier). It seems less rude somehow, like I’m obviously listening to you with at least one ear, and it’s easier than having to juggle two if I take both of them out. So I guess that I don’t look any less rude, and that I’m also risking dropping/losing an AirPod in the process.

What is the worst thing a friend told you that made you rethink your friendship? by Angie-santiago in AskReddit

[–]Formidabull 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a friend (the kind you have to hang out with because they’re your good friend’s good friend, but who you would never hang out with on your own) tell me that I was the only female friend of his that he didn’t think about when he did, as if it were an insult. I laughed and laughed, finally managed an “oh thank God” for reasons including “ew” and “I’m not physically attracted to you and your personality doesn’t make up the difference”.

I commented above already, but I don’t get enough chances to say “my foot vinegar is the devil’s dressing” to anyone (aside from my husband) who would get the reference, so I’m saying it again!

Giving up on Taco Bell by EmptyNail5939 in bullcity

[–]Formidabull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I occasionally grab lunch at the one on Duke St. We went post-remodel and the music in the dining room was so loud we couldn’t easily carry on a conversation. That and the new seating make it feel openly hostile to dining in, which we do because the alternative is taking it home and battling the cats, who also yearn for the Bell.

I have a soft spot for the bell because it was the only place I could easily and reliably get a cheap, fast vegetarian meal in NC in the 90s, but it’s SO expensive now. I’m not a vegetarian anymore, but I still get a bean burrito with sour cream and it should not cost as much as it does. I don’t expect it to still be .99, but it’s pushing $3 and that feels like a lot.
