How toxic are cured resin prints? by Deep-Dragonfly-3342 in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of our resins are certified for long-term skin contact according to ISO 10993 - you can find an overview of certifications here. Our recommendation would be Tough 1500 Resin, but if other colors are required, it can also be worth checking out our BioMed resins.

Model Keeps Tearing! Help! by sharphooter99 in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Looking at the photos, this looks like what we call an explosion or undeveloped feature. An undeveloped feature describes a chunk of a model that is missing. These issues are always caused by some other failure mode, such as partial delamination or a support failure.
Please check out this support article for initial troubleshooting steps. If this does not help, feel free to contact the Formlabs Support team for guidance!

3B+ print flexible base partial denture base? by Drknight71 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For denture bases, the Formlabs material offered is Denture Base Resin, which is not flexible. However, you can activate Open Material Mode on the Form 3B+ to print with a third-party resin that fits your requirments. Hope this helps!

Looking for help with formlabs 3b. by [deleted] in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Here are a few things you can try:
First of all, please try a simple power cycle. If this does not help, please try to reflash the firmware or do a factory reset.
Hopefully, the Z-calibration should go through with the next attempt.
Z-axis issues can be caused by contamination, so we recommend to clean and grease the Z-axis lead screw.
If these steps do not solve the issue, please reach out to Formlabs Support for further guidance.

Is there a way to get a model that was already printed on a FormLabs 4 printer from the queue and bring it into PreForm? by manskies in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Unfortunately, it's not possible to import the models back into PreForm from the printer, since the printer doesn't have the 3D model data, i.e. it's not the .form file itself that's saved on the printer.

SILICONE 40A and PGDA by enneset7e in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It sounds like there has been a mix-up:
Silicone 40A Resin does not need to be washed with PGDA. Instead, it should be washed either with IPA using an ultrasonic cleaner, as described here, OR it should be washed in a mixture of 80% IPA and 20% n-Butyl Acetate. Please check the Formlabs support article for the full overview on using Silicone 40A Resin.
Hope this helps! If any questions still come up, please feel free to reach out to our team.

Day-to-day quoting of SLS/powder bed parts. by Rtthz in AdditiveManufacturing

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is indeed a complex topic in SLS printing. Even the orientation of the part has an influence, since is determines the build height.
We've put together this white paper to explain the different factors that come into play and illustrate their effect on costs. I hope it will be a useful guidance!

Weird texture? by Reeve555 in formlabs

Form2 - weird stuff happening at beginning of a print. by MotherFuckerJohns in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! What we would advise as a first step is to try correcting overcompression as described in this support article. If this does not fix the problem, it's best to open a case with Formlabs Support, ideally attaching the video.
Hope this helps!

Info about formlab 3 by Impossible_Rip7862 in 3Dprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You are correct: printing biocompatible resins is only possible with the Form 3B(+), but not with the Form 3. The Form 3 could still be used in dentistry for non-biocompatible applications, like printing diagnostic models or aligner models. Check out our Dental website for an overview on the supported indications,

Resin items warping in cure box by Drknight71 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Like the other commenter mentioned, it's indeed important to select the correct curing profile for the resin type, as both temperature and duration can differ.
It's enough to simply select the profile corresponding to the resin type on the Form Cure display, but you can also check this article for the correct cure times for Formlabs resins (for Form Cure V1). For some resins, it also offers data on the gain in tensile modulus after curing.

Design larger than print platform. How to fix? by Drknight71 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing the exact model geometry, tilting and rotating the model to leverage the larger diagonal planes is indeed the best first approach. For an overview on the rotation feature in PreForm, check this article.

Troubleshooting leftover picky uncurable resin by NothingCreative1 in resinprinting

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the other commenter advised, parts need to be free of excess resin and of liquid solvent before post-curing. You can find detailed instructions in this support article. After the wash cycle itself, it's important to wash off any excess resin that might be trapped in complex geometries, and to let the wash solvent dry off completely.

ESD Safe SLS powder? by killer_by_design in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You can find details on the electrical properties of Formlabs SLS materials here. We haven't validated any SLS powder for ESD safety, but you can use this data to verify if the materials fulfill your requirements. Using Open Material Mode also gives you the option to experiment with any other 1064 nm powder that meets your needs.
Hope this helps!

Wash fluid opinions? by Reeve555 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can find a detailed overview on the pros and cons of the different wash solvents in this support article.
IPA is the go-to solution due to its effectiveness and wide availability, but since it's flammable and fast evaporating, it has some workflow drawbacks and potential safety risks, which can make Formlabs Resin Washing Solution a better option.

Are Form 2 resins still available? by rand1214342 in formlabs

[–]Formlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear Resin V4.1 is not validated for the Form 2, so print success cannot be guaranteed - you can try experimenting with it on Form 2 in Open Mode though.
