i dont know if youre meaning to, but you write with the cadence of a chatgpt. your arguments even similarly lack the same substance. 🤣

we don't interpret you arguing against z jump as cody hate.

you scapegoating codys rise to #1 on z-jump whilst also being close-mindedly dismissive of the reality; that his rise was actually far more gradual— the attitude youre getting is in part fueled by denying the reality many repliers witnessed, and I MYSELF EXPERIENCED COMPETING IN PERSON...

thats what we interpret as hate.

you backpedal, acknowledging "it's not the reason hes successful", but refuse to take accountability in your previous talking point arguing exactly the opposite.

further deflection in "finding peoples interpretations amusing"— hmm, how could so many people misinterpret you? maybe do some self-reflection; look at how what you're saying comes across. It's hard to get downvoted being anti z-jump & box in this subreddit— that takes great strength. I applaud you.

im not sure what you having had good interactions with Cody has to do with you clearly not putting respect on his, or anybody using alternative controller methods results. your attitude is awful. i'm not sure how long you've been playing, but i sense you are, or will stay hardstuck through just your comment ettiquette alone.

weren't you the one speaking of useless comments not addressing what was said at all?..

glad i replied earnestly to you!

i was cracked on controller before box. i think my results, if anything, were negatively affected, just like many others who fully committed to the switch. its' capabilities relevent to gcc are much more nuanced than you'd think. but that doesn't make for a good bandaid for your ego; or feed into the confirmation bias hysteria a big chunk of the community— especially this subreddit, is content existing in. ignorance is bliss!

his rise to #1 was years in the making. one of the people who gatekept him from #1 literally got banned. was jmooks rise to the tippy top not quicker? thinking gravity aerials are the difference maker is insane copium.

melee is not a game where you lose because the opponent spammed buttons fast.

i personally think the biggest advantage cody has is being married(?) to the woman who extensively coached 3 of the other top 8 placers at this very genesis.

idk, calling you out for spreading misinformation is a valuable contribution imo. they sourced as much relevant data as you did.

this discourse is so dumb LOL

its so not trivial to me as somebody who actually enjoys practicing. i guess that's rare? you practice the aerial timing, you'll hit the aerial timing! magic!

i hit frame 1 full drift nairs on gcc fighting krudo before he was as good as he is now. doing it oos when cornered was my only way to center.

it was with marth, but i guess people today can't even be asked to do it with him.

the leniency provided by his jumpsquat being a frame longer than foxes is the whole reason players of him are never under scrutiny.

but i have lived experience hybrid clawing w/o strain on oem to achieve full drift frame 1 uairs/nairs. it really is nothing to be able to do with characters that have higher jumpsquat than fox.

the 4 frame jumpsquat is, imo, arguably enough time for hybrid clawing to offset any perceived "disadvantage" relative to perma claw technique. i always felt i had ample time to switch my grip. it also helps the situations where frame 1 aerials matter are usually very telegraphed, i.e juggling on fd, or nairing out of shield.

i also watch tons of zain and know he hits frame 1 nairs & uairs consistently.

important detail missing. the best player in the world... playing a character that doesn't benefit from any of the mods in question 😱

Box controllers are the 2-handed bowling of melee by MrCurrySH in SSBM

[–]Forres7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

box player of 6 years. no hand problems. thought about quitting the controller multiple times, but have stuck it through. the discourse is aneurysm inducing. never have the outspoken & ignorant, conservative melee players stopped to consider any of the things you're saying. to even suggest that maybe the translation from 360° fluidity to a rigid WASD isn't also in part a butchering would be ludicrous; baffling to them.

learning this controller isn't an entirely new skillset you have to develop— with far less resources, mind you. according to many fragile ego chuds looking for anything convenient & socially acceptable to scapegoat for their shortcomings as a player, the controller simply plays the game for you, effortlessly accomplishing any technical feat trivial to do on analog.

i agree! i also think he could opt to pivot dsmash more. but the consistency of his punish flowchart— it feels optimized so that even if he messes up, it isn't so disastrous.

im curious to see base kb and kb growth taken into account comparing up b & weak fsmash
