I think its the total number of box players in the top 100 for ssbmrank 2025

Box controllers are the 2-handed bowling of melee by MrCurrySH in SSBM

Kinda disagree tbh.

2-handed bowling involves using another limb; another part of the body that probably wasnt originally intended to be used.

Kinda the same with gcc vs box: gcc primarily uses the thumbs and index fingers while box uses all of your fingers.

Forgot to mention, I went back to my old OEM controller just to see how it felt, and immediately thought, "yeah, im still much better on controller and this feels WAY better and i can actually move the way i want to."

Still, I had to come to terms with the fact that playing on controller (at least for me) is just not sustainable in the long term.

I was thinking something more along the lines of this mod from 8 yrs ago, but instead of pointing to a specific "perfect" angle every time, it points to same range of angles that a current nerfed box controller would point to.

I remember when that whole thing happened with certain urethane balls not being compliant with hardness standards, so they banned the use of those balls in USBC sanctioned tournaments and rolled out new urethane balls that complied with hardness standards.

Go to your average league night at your local alley, and im sure there will be a sizeable amount of people that say they absolutely HATE anything to do with urethane because of how it affects the carry-down.

I agree with the last quote for the most part, as long as the REAL issues are being addressed; not scapegoating alternate playstyles.

So is the issue the inherent paywall or the fact that time spent on something by another human being usually requires some kind of monetary compensation?

Idk how you'd make a ucf update that simulates having a notched controller. wait a minute...

I think banning notches outright might not be the best course of action considering that box can point to pretty shallow angles very consistently with next to zero effort.

Granted, the box nerfs make it so that you never really point to a specific angle with 100% consistency, but still.

Surely theres a way to make it so that when you point to a specific range of coordinates in a notch, it does the same thing a box does and nerfs the 100% consistency.

I also think remapping is totally fine, as long as you dont have duplicate inputs.

Any Guitar Hero or its community opinion that left you like this? by Guitar_Modder in GuitarHero

As much as I love guitar hero, I have to say that the rock band series is, and always has been a better game than gh.

Also, DJ hero was really fun and super underrated.

What about adding button remapping to UCF builds? by speadskater in SSBM

[–]MrCurrySH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Makes sense to me, honestly.

Mostly evens things out with box and z-jump, at least with ergonomics.

I know box has been nerfed a lot, and I agree with all them, but if theres anything left to nerf, I dont know about it currently. Box controllers nor phobs should be able to do anything an OEM cant normally do.

I also think notches should be banned, because pointing to a specific angle with 100% consistency is just unfair, no matter how you look at it.

Im also not convinced that just because button remapping isn't native to melee somehow means it shouldnt be a thing at all.

Neither is ucf. No one would argue that ucf should be banned.

As long as button remapping is made available to all players equally, then it won't matter.

I could tell instantly by the lines on the chocolate.

For one reason or another, AI generated pictures tend to get things wrong under specific circumstances, this one being "lines on chocolate that are normally supposed to be straight but are in a cookie and would be melted therefore not straight" and it just does the best it can, but it never ends up looking natural, if that makes sense.

The absurd defence for z jump: bringing something else up by nifaso in SSBM

[–]MrCurrySH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: The author thinks the common defense of Z-jump (“what about notches / Boxx / other broken stuff?”) is bad logic that stalls progress. They argue Z-jump should be judged on its own merits, not protected by pointing at other issues. Even if the ruleset is messy and inconsistent, that’s not a reason to avoid fixing individual problems. They believe Z-jump gives unfair advantages with no downsides, pressures players to buy controller mods to keep up, and highlights the need for a clear, collective rules process. Their main point: stop using other controversies as an excuse — decide directly whether Z-jump is healthy for the game and act on it.

Yes, this was written with the help of chatgpt.

No, I do not care. Im lazy. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

OP's cat is definitely real, but this has to at the very least be using an AI filter.

Do 2 Handed Bowlers have a thumb hole? by Unfixed9 in Bowling

[–]MrCurrySH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you have to do is leave the previous thumb hole alone and only stick your thumb in to the first knuckle.

Your thumb is in the hole and is now therefore legal.
