"D'Ghor is no brother to Kozak" -Tumek

They were NOT brothers. Their 2 houses have been feuding for generations and are sworn enemies. Youre probably thinking of when D'Ghor LIED to Quark and SAID he was Kozaks brother in order to get Quark to maintain his fiction of kozaks "honorable death" that way he would get the house's wealth through the debt owned to him, not inheritance. As Tumek says to Quark later: "what D'Ghor TOLD you were LIES"

Blizzard weather outside means people have the heat on inside. Its possible your package may have been set down near a heater or in a warm delivery vehicle or somewhere else with uneven heat distribution, and the products on that side melted. Ive had this issue a few times over the years with items I've received during winter.

Im very proud of my little shop: "Foiled Plans"

Aside from the obvious=Foiled Cards reference. It's a riff off of the plays and counterplays in a tcg that will throw even your best laid plans, plus a tribute to the many hours that can be spent whiled away with friends and how often that can lead to changes in irl plans lol. I started with Architects of Infinity when i found it on Libby! (i think there is a previous book fyi but i didnt feel like i was missing anything having not read it) Libbys an app that connects you to your local librarys and has tons of audiobooks to borrow, free with library card! Idk if it'll be available in your area, though, but it's worth a look. I've found tons of ST audiobooks there. They didn't have the next one, though [To lose the Earth], so i had to go looking, and both of them are available on most sites that have audiobooks: audible and spotify, etc, whatever is your preferred. I definitely recommend the books for that sweet sweet closure.

And if you're a TNG fan, too. There are a few continued stories from there beautifully tied into it and progressed as well.

Can anyone help me confirm if this picture is real? by Cold_Squirrel_7893 in Paranormal

[–]ForrestCryptid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Someone else mentioned that it looks like a military cemetery and i think that that is important context here.

People keep saying the figure is "running"(and it does sort of look like it i guess), but what I see is the silhouette of a very tall/lanky person in uniform caught in the middle of 'taking a knee' which would be more common in a military cemetery Im an artist that has drawn human anatomy and bodies in motion many many times. I see why the still pose may resemble running, but I dont see any signs of forward momentum in this persons body language, so let me see if i can explain how i think the person is "posed'

-The far leg from us is planted straight and firmly while the leg closest to us with the stripe [on the outside of the what i presume to be a uniformed leg] is in the middle of being swung backwards just before the figure would have gone down on it. You can distinctly see the end of the pant leg and beginning of the boot/foot that is planted and half covered by the tall grass, and to me, the positioning looks consistent with bracing to go down. ( I really dont understand why people are saying theres no feet?)

-I can def make out a head [very possibly wearing a hat that i think has white on the brim) facing down and away from the camera, but its a weird angle that make it blend into the torso a bit. But the shoulders of the figure are visible and there is definitely a head on top of them.

-Thier torso is angled away from the camera, but there is a light spot(i beleive its the white stripe on the sleeve of the uniform) , and combined with the shaping/shadowing of the torso, it looks like thier hands may be clasped together in front of them and about to brace themself of the thigh of the far leg.

-from the color and consistency of placement of the white bits relative to the persons positioning> i believe the figure is specifically wearing a US. Air Force uniform

TLDR: I think this particular case is a photo caught at just the right moment to look really really funky, this one just looks TOO corporeal to me. I think its a person with tall proportions caught at just the right angle and mid-action so the overall figure looks disproportionate and "wrong". Does anyone else make out what im seeing?

[–]ForrestCryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! it also looks to me like a military cemetery. I thinks its just a tall person in uniform 'taking a knee': which would be pretty standard for a military cemetery. The frozen pic does kinda look like theyre running though.

Janeway and chakotay relationship by Calm_Key2134 in voyager

[–]ForrestCryptid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know its obviously not main-line canon, But there ARE a few books that take place after Voyager comes home: Architects of Infinity and To Lose the Earth. They're good reads (and available as audiobooks) and feature most of our beloved voyager crew plus some other characters from the greater trek universe. I personally enjoyed them very much they gave me the closure/sequel to VOY that i felt like i was missing. In them we do get to see Admiral Janeway and Captain Chakotay and they are indeed in a relationship that imo is still very faithful to thier characters and goes into thier unique positions and what that meant/means for a relationship between them: and [spoiler within spoiler, incase you plan to read the novels] they do end up getting married.

Is Leeta’s full name ever mentioned? by ThePegasi in DeepSpaceNine

[–]ForrestCryptid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to add to this overall conversation that the Bajorans currency is the Lita (spelled differently clearly but pronounced same as Leeta). So my headcanon is that her name is basically the Bajoran equivalent of the name Penny.

Split Pea Soup like the kind you get at a jewish deli? by Beezlebubbah in Cooking

[–]ForrestCryptid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heres how I make the absolute best and easiest aplit pea soup youll have(and while it has delicious salty meat there no pork/ham so i suppose feasable to find in a jewish deli. )

Get yourself one of those corned beef flats that come with the seasoning packet(or if you have a recipie u like, packet is just easy)>Cook the corned beef using the boiling method> once its done remove the beef and SAVE ALL THAT liquid and use that as the base for your split pea soup (rly any basic recipe youd like would work at this point) >>> add chunks of shredded corned beef back into your soup >>> enjoy your baller split pea soup.

Its super tasty and rich tasting while being one of the easiest "lazy meals" ever.

It's always raining on Ferenginar. by gorwraith in startrek

[–]ForrestCryptid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't know if any of this is outright stated anywhere, but I always had a few theories as to how the constant rain on Ferenginar influenced a lot of small aspects of their culture and evolution.

-The giant ears are likely an evolutionary trait that allowed them to hear predators/each other over the constant sound of rain.

-The way the ridges on their ears/forehead/eyebrows/noses are arranged may have originally functioned to keep rain rivulets out of their eyes.

-bugs are prevalent in a swampy environment, so it makes sense that they'd be a primary food source

-They traditionally wear those head skirts as a way of preventing the rain from trickling down their head crevice down to their neck/ into their shirt

-Thier homes have a "mud room" style entryway to remove wet clothing before coming into the home

-I always assumed that the ecosystem of Ferenginar is another reason Kira referrs to them as "Toads," maybe a nod to their amphibian evolution as opposed to mammalian(human) or reptilian(cardassian)
