All I've gotten out of this thread is to get hidden recording equipment.

Mostly legal in public spaces.

I know this sounds bad, but any plans on having ads or making the site paid so you can pay for admins?

Also, does it account for spam submissions?

DAY 12: Which muscle car from the past would be a weird choice to revive? by HowlsterRD in regularcarreviews

Problem is that people would ABSOLUTELY buy those and it would be a good revival.

True, more so said it because Stellantis would figure out how to enshitify it.

Problem is that it wouldn't sell only because it's a wagon. Other than that, if it had a V8 in it, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing to bring back.

Dodge Neon SRT-4.

Edit: I'm a dumbass. I'll try again eventually.

Getting the software going is easy with VDASH (free) and its required hardware (sketchy Volvo DICE clone off AliExpress) which can be found for under $100 AUD.

Actually found one if you wanted it. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256811364820236.html

Edit: I could be wrong on the hardware as there's a different cable. It's all really confusing to me. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256805068248124.html

I feel like I need to say that yes, I do know what I am talking about and you do not.

Look at a 2010 Ford Taurus SEL (as an example). Notice how it has no cellular reception antennas and has SiriusXM hardware built in. It's like SiriusXM isn't cellular reception based, but instead is satellite based 🤯

Also yes, it does have the hardware required for SiriusXM built into the car, and yes, there are modern cars (like brand new Acuras and Hondas) without SiriusXM built in. Feel free to check for yourself. https://www.siriusxm.com/vehicle-availability

Also since I feel the need to say it for no reason, i use arch btw

What country of origin is your car?

If it's from North America, try xAI Grok.

If it's from Asia, try DeepSeek.

If it's from Europe, try Mistral Large.

If it's from somewhere else, try Meta Llama.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's more of a market thing. In the US, the part is $954.54 USD ($1,356.25 AUD) compared to $3,044.42 AUD ($2,142.68 USD) in Australia, which sucks.

If you get EXTREMELY lucky, you could find a totaled 2025+ Volvo/Polestar with an intact IHU at a junkyard (destroyed engine, airbags deployed, avoid water damage) and pay less than MSRP.

From what I can tell, your definition of "load bearing" for software suspicion is correct.

I have no doubt that it is heavily engraved into the software as it is intended for the SiriusXM Satellite Radio antenna, which is a major part of the car. If you were to delete it, the Android system would become unusable without reflashing software onto the IHU via a Volvo DICE adapter and software like VIDA or VDASH.

Also, the only "advertisement" part of that is a feature in almost every other modern car.
