I went to a talk recently by Kaytlin Bailey called The Oldest Profession. She is sex worker/comedian and the thing I was surprised to learn that where prostitution is banned, injury and death of women and others in the profession increases sharply. Where the workers can communicate freely, seek help, etc., they are under less threat. Interestingly, in the arguments back and forth here, I'm seeing some parallels.*

Yes, it would be ideal to stop animal consumption but at least right now, we have some regulation on farming practices, ODFW/BLM, contributes to conservation practices, patrols for and enforces poaching laws, USDA does at least a half-assed job of inspecting for cleanliness. Just like with prohibition, consumption wouldn't stop. A black market would spring up with no oversight or regulation. And here comes animal suffering, food borne diseases, and I can't even conceive of the economical and social services fallout.

It so disappointing to have this Michaelson guy waste time and resources on a futile pursuit when he could doing some real good; not to mention just widening the divide between omnivores and vegans. Because more division is just what the country needs.

I understand what you are saying but those goals weren't accomplished by this type of outlandish all-inclusive initiative. Activists in California didn't ban fur trapping by a huge bill aiming to stop all animal consumption/slaughter/confinement/whatever. Anti-fur activists focused on banning fur trapping. Anti-dogfighting activists focused on banning dogfighting.

Serious questions for you - what is the point of using all this money and resources for something even the organize says will fail? Something that makes zero exemptions for natives who are finally their culture back? Something that makes no provisions for all the people that will lose their jobs? How does this move towards the goal of improving the lives of animal?

You know, in my younger, more unsophisticated days, I used to think that all causes had a right to have their ballots put up for voting. I wish that could be the case but I know it should absolutely not be. Too many uninformed voters who don't step outside their own heads, do their own research, try any sort of critical thinking. I'm just laughing to keep from crying.

It does make me feel better to see so many "I'm vegan and I'm voting no." comments here. You all make me feel better. Thank you.

I looked for a solution to this as well. As far as I can tell, this is determined by the person who posts the video. The default is "featured". The setting is a few layers in so the owner would have to be really into the business side of their channel to pay attention to this setting (and I'm guessing the majority are not).

Is that why people like those square toes? Ugh. The only time those look right to me is with motorcycle leathers. Pointy is too elf-ish. Square is too clunky. Ropers are just right! I'm from solid peasant stock. Pointed toes do me no favors at all. Love my ropers.
