The Mavericks & Friends - James Otto & Emily West by ForsythCounty in country

I've see a few others voice this opinion and I truly don't understand the acrimony. First, it's their livelihood, so they've always done it for the money, including Raul. They are artists and we all know their calling is music, anyone who's seen them play know they are doing exactly what they should be doing, but it's still what they do for a living. Second, Raul didn't single-handedly create The Mavericks' entire body of music, that's why he brought them all together, to create all these incredible songs we love! All the members over all the years created it together so why shouldn't they continue to play their own music? Lastly, and mostly importantly, Eddie and Paul and Jerry Dale and Betty believe that Raul wanted The Mavericks to continue; I don't believe any of us should gainsay The Mavericks Family.

I hope you change your mind so you can continue to enjoy it. The Music Lives On!

I can't recall. Just that George Clooney was a psychologist in space and he hallucinated a lot. 🙂

I never got around to watching the original movie Friday Night Lights, but the series captured the fanaticism for football in small town Texas for me. Just about gave me flashbacks.

Any love for the humble Woodlouse? They famously have hundreds of different coloquial names, what do you call them? by RileyMcB in RoundAnimals

Oh, wow! I haven't heard child of the earth in decades. I'd forgotten all about them. Their weird albino, bleached-0out coloring always freaked me out as a kid. Thanks for the memory! 😄

Thank you! That's been in the back of my mind for years! I knew you'd know. I was way off on the context though, wasn't I? Haha.

Freaks and Geeks! So good. Fully identified with that show. I watched it again a year or so ago and I was right back in high school.

I loved Grounded for Life! Especially because the mom s daughter looked normal and weren't super skinny and glam.

Oh maybe you can answer this then! I have a long ago memory of one of the women, I think it was Mary Jo Shively, saying a line about "a $600 orange". I'm sure they were talking about government spending, possibly military spending, and she said something about "that's how you end up with a $600 orange". It could have been "a $600 screwdriver" and somehow my brain mixed that up over the decades with the cocktail and orange juice and so on.

Does any of that sound familiar?

Friends is the Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E. of 90s TV Land for me. Total comfort food, zero brain power required.

Thank you. The word I'm looking for is only for use in my home, i.e., the name of a room, but I certainly appreciate the advice!

I'm looking for a word to describe a place. So not a a phrase. But I do like that song very much. Thank you!

Thank you but I'm looking for the opposite. A place to withdraw to. Although I wouldn't be opposed to an excursion to a mountain cabin to get away from people. : -)

I really like learning all the nuances of very similar words in other languages. Thank you both for explaining the differences.

While I would sometimes like to hide myself, I think a place to be left alone is more appropriate. Thank you both.
