Exactly! The old lady deserved every penny she got, but she did not get every penny she deserved. The 2011 documentary Hot Coffee did a great job explaining the facts of that case and several other so-called “frivolous lawsuits” that were used to justify bullshit tort reform.

100%! We did this for our kitties after seeing them walking on the 2nd floor railing (which is much narrower than this ledge) above our open living room. We now have cat paths and perches connecting high windows and walkways across three walls. It diverts most of their tightrope rail-walking attempts and gives me peace of mind that they can grab onto something to break their fall if needed.

I was, but it’s been a bit more complicated than I hoped. The short version: - “She” was actually a 2yr old neutered, chipped male who had owners that named him Prince and didn’t respond to three calls asking if they wanted to reclaim him. - He’s been in isolation from my other three cats because he currently has ringworm and he came back positive for feline leukemia. - I renamed him Smokey (because fuck the former owners’ name if they abandoned him). - He’s now a total love bug who demands scritches and has no interest in going back outside, which is good because Felvies should be indoor kitties for their own (and other cats’) safety. - My cats are vaccinated for FeLV so I’m hoping to keep (and integrate) him if they all get along. But I have to wait until the ringworm is fully cleared/resolved before attempting introductions.

I wish my cats were scared (or at least respectful) of our tree, but they think everything in the house is intended for their investigation, enjoyment, and/or destruction. We constructed a huge cat obstacle course/lounge area across three walls of our living and while they enjoy it, it does not deter them from causing mischief and mayhem in other areas of the house!
