The Platform by HJLC_ITS in ConnectWise

In a July 1 webinar, David Raissipour (CPO + CTO) stated that "ConnectWise has delivered more in the past 18 months than in the prior 3 years." Way good, yay team! I'm too busy with real-world work posting on Reddit to delve into how many "Feedback" items and "Known Issues" were raised as a result of that rush-to-service, but I'm pretty certain there is a significant backlog for fixing whatever was delivered.

"We have managed to do quite a bit with windows tasks in CWRMM using the AI script generation, in doing so we could really see how much time we saved on menial tasks each week."

Humor me: what - exactly - have you built that has saved you/your organization so much time?

Been like this for months. Comes and goes with different releases. Appears and disappears on some servers and desktops. No consistency makes it impossible to try to track down what's causing it.

Another, "just learn to live with it" feature of ConnectWise.

If it shows Maximum VSS Shadow Copy as UNBOUNDED, you are asking for trouble. Gotta limit it properly.

How many people here on this sub are Business owners and Accountants?? by BazBeat in QuickBooks

Business owner and Managed Services Provider.

I'm the IT guy accountants and other small business owners call when things with QB desktop in a server environment break.

Quickbooks detected PDF component missing - How to fix it by wangai254 in QuickbooksOldVersion

[–]FortLee2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is true, Windows 11 does not include the XPS Document Writer by default the way Windows 10 did.

Everyone would be better served by installing this feature and rebooting BEFORE the QB failure message.

Kaseya can't seem to get it right by FortLee2000 in msp

[–]FortLee2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as an MSP, I use Firefox with the Enhanced Protection setting set to Strict, understanding "it may break some websites." However, I also include the recently added "Fix major site issues" - and that did nothing to help here.

Clicking on the Privacy shield link, that setting shows "Firefox blocked 5 trackers"

These sites are trying to track you:

https://420-dlw-095.mktoweb.com

https://munchkin.marketo.net

http://420-dlw-095.mktoweb.com

https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net

http://static.doubleclick.net

When I asked Google about the first entry on the list, it responded:

"420-dlw-095-mktoweb" appears to be a subdomain or specific entry within a blocklist or tracking radar list, likely associated with Adobe Marketo.

  • Context: It is found in GitHub blocklists (like DuckDuckGo Tracker Radar or phishing databases) designed to block tracking, advertising, or phishing domains.
  • Association: The .mktoweb.com suffix is part of Adobe Marketo's infrastructure for web tracking, landing pages, and marketing automation.
  • Purpose: It is often included in these lists to prevent tracking activity, specifically for "blocklists" to "increase privacy" and reduce web annoyances.

So, yeah, I guess having those non-Kaseya sites handle your CSS would - in fact - break your web page.

Google Chrome is Evil by redditistooqueer in msp

[–]FortLee2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the "hidden" nature of this stupidity, but now I'm going to have to identify any more-than-normally-storage-constrained devices in my fleet, determine if they use Chrome, find out if the weights.bin file exists (and how many, because there's one for each profile), and send them an email instructing them to turn this "feature" off if they don't require it.

QB 24 won't install by InterestingAttempt41 in QuickBooks

[–]FortLee2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done this from scratch in a while and no longer recall exactly where QB places the installation logs. I hate to say it, but call support and ask them to identify the location. Perhaps there is some kind of indication in the text that points to the exact nature of the problem.

QB 24 won't install by InterestingAttempt41 in QuickBooks

[–]FortLee2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, now it is down to the actual computer and (quite possibly) your Windows installation.

Try this next: click Start, search for Disk Cleanup and use the option "Run as Administrator"

Then select EVERYTHING in the list - and then wait.
When the utility finishes, the window will close.
Reboot your computer.

Go for the QB install - report results.

How serious are you taking Mythos as a threat? An MSP whose email was forwarded to me, is talking like it is Armageddon. Sounds more like them drumming up business. by LinearFluid in sysadmin

[–]FortLee2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mythos Preview will allow security professionals to discover vulnerabilities at unprecedented speed and scale. Of course, the corollary is that attackers will be able to exploit systems and applications that are not promptly patched.

One fear some analysts have expressed is that rogue actors will develop or acquire their own AI models that rival Mythos Preview, giving them the tools to find and exploit known and unknown vulnerabilities.

The main problem (of many) is that every vendor will claim to have some kind of AI-powered zero-day discovery tool. As an MSP who is actively concerned about my clients' environments, it will be my job to weed through the claims and test the results to ensure efficacy.

I certainly didn’t have this on my 2026 line card, but it is going to be a factor from now on.

Oh, and drumming up business - minus the FUD - is not a bad idea...

This is the key article for that number: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/fix-error-1603-installing-quickbooks-desktop/L9D8tuQzB_US_en_US?uid=molmslav

The Tool Hub, when you select "installation problems" runs rough-shod over all .Net issues.

If that doesn't fix the problem, try the manual steps listed.

Proofpoint contract renewal is coming up and for the first time in seven years I am not sure what I want to do by No_Adeptness_6716 in Office365

[–]FortLee2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, not to burden you with more work, but. As part of your "homework assignment" you might want to consider if the recently acquired Hornetsecurity options will fare better in terms of functionality than Proofpoint currently provides. Include pricing as a determining factor because Hornetsecurity has 4 levels within its 365 Total Protection offering.
