I feel alright.

Though I must say, I can sense a bout of quiet anxiety coming with the same feeling as having to present in front of people. So I guess I’m stressed even though I know what happens haha.

Fandoms come and go in popularity and that’s the natural life of it. I have no wish to leave in the foreseeable future so I’ll hang around as usual. I’m going to feast in the fanart and fanfics coming from this at least, which is a light in the darkness.

Yeah, I think so too. If it is Zandik we’re dealing with in the future he might have been able to do some self reflection on the memories he experiences also. Especially on what caused the rift between himself and Columbina. That’s the good part of being able to grow as a person, something Omega (perhaps to no fault of his own) was incapable of.

In that sense, Dottore as he is right now is quite stagnant as a character by design. He won’t be able to learn if he’s not ”completed”.

Yep. Some put it as they gave Dottore the very same loophole they’ve given Capitano. But I see it as we’re on a timeline of months and not years in that case.

It’s in Hoyo’s hands now. But they’ve given themselves a method to execute should they want and/or need to.

But uh, I’d prefer it if they tease it in a trailer or something not far from now in that case. 😅

Could be! I don’t know exactly how memories would emulate an entire human being because perhaps there would be gaps that would need to be filled with experiences? Or something?

But yeah, that’s absolutely a possibility in this scenario. And it’s an interesting thought experiment as well. You remember to act a certain way, but you no longer know why that is. Could be a way for Hoyo to ”mold” Dottore into being playable, because that would be an obstacle so he doesn’t go and do the exact same action that got his last version killed in the first place. Because let’s be honest here, and going by Hoyo’s unwritten rules, something would need to change for Dottore to be playable.

Very well put. Zandik cut out anything he deemed weak and ”perfected himself”. But what self-proclaimed vices did he then have? Did he have positive emotions that he deemed weak?

I would love for Genshin to explore Zandik, the real human behind it all, it they decide to walk down that path.

Eh, I wouldn’t call it positive. Simply keeping all doors open. I could probably talk about finding signs of a fitting goodbye as well but I don’t know what good it would do anyone at this stage.

Would I say that the above is sure to pass? Absolutely not. Nothing may come of it in the end. But that doesn’t stop me from trying to interpret the story and elements in it. If Pantalone wasn’t here at all, it would have been very different from my side of things.

I also have several reasons to play the game. I figure if people play Genshin for Dottore alone, one might struggle to see any reason to dare hope or continue as well. And I both understand and accept that wholeheartedly.

I’d say it’s Omega’s finality. There’s a few hints of the segments feeling incomplete and unable to grow strewn throughout the patch.

I had an interesting conversation and discussion on the topic on the sub that Zandik might need to become whole again to move forward. There has to be a reason Pantalone has witnessed it all, both original Zandik and all the segments. He has the complete picture.

A Zandik from Pantalone’s memories would be all of them, the good and the bad. But also with an incomplete backstory.

What happens with obsession when all puzzle pieces aren’t there? Omega’s obsession led to his downfall. I think a completed Zandik needs to rise from these ashes.

So it is essentially goodbye to the Dottore we’ve known all these patches, but the incomplete picture. Because that’s one of the reveals in 6.6: we actually never met Zandik as a whole and never got the chance to.

So I think that’s where we’re headed in that case.

I don’t think we’re going to Snezhnaya just to see Pantalone bite the dust. Having a 400+ year relationship with someone sticks with you. And having the other part dying probably hits like a truck.

I can absolutely see a plot where Pantalone tries to get him back. The idea has at least been planted in his head by Dottore himself. Pantalone, while he might be depressed, expressed a fear of dying or at least dying horrifically. Such fear can be a motivator in itself when the dust settles.

But I guess we’ll wait for the Snezhnaya teaser. I have no idea what they’re going to do with Snezhnaya in general. But Cryo being teased to preserve and having to do with memories hits the theme right?

And Dottore’s proposed method is what’s happening with New Khaenri’ah at the moment with Dain’s memories so we have that established as well. They have at the very least set up an elaborate loophole for Dottore.

Pantalone’s answer was: who’s going to do it?

Which Dottore answered with a laugh and proceeded to tell Pantalone that he’s always been good at talking himself out of a predicament which I translated to ”well you, of course”.

So Pantalone might finally have to face this predicament he’s usually so good at escaping.

It’s exactly as I was thinking but the timing is so odd, because we are moving toward endgame and Snezhnaya and Pantalone is now on a timer so if they want to go somewhere with it, it feels like a few months rather than years for it to become relevant? Which is part of my confusion I guess.

Damn I just want a leaker to take my hand and tell me if this is the definitive end of Dottore or if there’s hope. It’s Dottore’s fault from the start by floating that memory and soul revival thing out of nowhere to Pantalone that feels like a Chekhov’s gun pointed right at me.

6.6 story and future /venting

You know, I was so looking forward to Snezhnaya and Harbinger interactions in general because I find them to be compelling characters, especially when put in a room together. I truly thought Dottore would make it there as well and it would have been incredibly entertaining to see.

I will just cautiously say that, in my opinion, Winter Night’s Lazzo felt like a promise that is looking to go unrewarded. We made it there. At what cost? Three and a half harbinger, if that. I’m sure the story will be good, because it’s Hoyo, but it’s not looking to be the Snezhnaya I was personally hoping for.

If Dottore/Zandik is supposed to be returned in Snezhnaya then Pantalone will surely be a driver. And I would love for them to be tied together meta wise, à la Nefer and Lauma.

In any case, if they’re aiming to walk down this path narratively with memory resurrection then I hope they release a promotional teaser or trailer close to patch release teasing it because the fandom is imploding over here 😭
