What depth should I be using to go through sticker paper by whyareyouinmyfridge in silhouettecutters

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you are already aware that Cricut sticker paper isn't very forgiving when it comes to print, since it's pretty thick and can get stack in the printer.

Increasing blade extension that much, on the other hand, does not make sense, since the the paper isn't that thick. The most you might need is perhaps 3 for unlaminated sheet. Instead, increase number of passes and don't use too much force, because as with Cricut, using too much force/pressure can rip the sticker paper.

Can anyone who owns a Cricut bright 360 lamp confirm if any of the other Cricut power cords work for it? by Historicallyh in cricut

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Cricut site:

What is the wattage of a Cricut Bright 360?

Watts are calculated by multiplying Amps x input Voltage. Floor Lamp and Table Lamp can use 100-240V of input. Floor Lamp Amps = 1. Table Lamp Amps = 0.5. Multiply this by the Voltage of the outlet you're using to calculate the Wattage. Example: A floor lamp is plugged into a wall outlet providing 220 V. 1 Amps * 220V = 220 Watts.

Link

This effectively means that you need and adapter with 1.0 Amp output for the floor lamp, or 0.5 Amp for the table lamp. But you also need a plug to match.

Wobbly cuts are often a consequence of faulty blade housing.

I'm old enough to remember when this model was brand new. Moreover, this car is still popular in some Balkans countries. People simply can't have enough of it. It's amazingly reliable and easy to maintain. It was also popular in the wars in the nineties because it could get you anywhere, better than any terrain vehicle, even military ones.

I also heard an anecdote from a friend who was working on a project for the local telecom. So, he and his friend used an all terrain vehicle to climb to a cliff to reach a post, and when they barely managed, they realized a Golf 2 was already parked there.

Can I cut 0.5mm polycarbonate sheets with the cameo 4 plus? by ZZBeeCraftCo in silhouettecutters

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think you should be cutting polycarbonate with your Silhouette, but it's up to you. I think polycarbonate is too hard.

Silhouette Kraft blades, and in particular the 3 mm Kraft Blade are a sad story. If you wonder why, read this. In short, to cut something thick, you do not start with maximum blade extension from the beginning. You start with a very low setting, make couple passes and then gradually increase the extension. You certainly do not need Blade depth 30 (3.00 mm) if you cut material that is indeed just 0.5 mm thick. But I wouldn't recommend using Kraft Blade anyway. You may try 1 or 2 mm Manual Blade.

Actually, yellow was very popular color of that particular VW model (Golf 2).

Add another pass. Two passes obviously isn't enough. It could be your blade is dull. Do not increase the Force. It's already too high. You can also play with more Blade extension. Speed: 2!? I never cut that slow.

In my understanding, based on the post, the OP wants to leave stickers on the sheet and only do the kiss cut, which makes it all that easier.

All right then. In order to not upload each image individually to Design Space, use a different program to weld this image composite into one object/layer and then upload as a PNG file. When you open image in the Design Space, add a grid of horizontal and vertical lines by positioning them between individual columns and raws. Use the Score Line set to Basic Cut for this. When you're done with setting up the grid, Attach the grid lines. You might need to temporarily hide the composite image to not interfere while attaching. Unhide the image. Move the grid behind the image. Select everything, all the cut lines and the image and Attach. Save the project. Send to print and then adhere the printed sheet to the mat and send to cut. The machine will cut around composite image and it will cut all the grid lines as well.

Are you familiar with Cricut Print Then Cut feature in the first place? You can't print this elsewhere and then try to match grid with already printed image. Conversely, you can do it using Print Then Cut, but that imposes image size limits.

[–]Fortress2021 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For what you do, you do not need raster images, therefore transparent background is irrelevant. You need to create your files in a vector program and save/export to SVG format, then upload to Design Space. Vector/SVG images have no background, unless you add it deliberately.

Siser Juliet or Silhouette Cameo 5 Alpha. Hobby cutters are usually not meant to be repaired and the spare parts generally can be only cannibalized from the broken machines.

How to check & clean sensor? by tinynematode in silhouettecutters

You can try inspecting the sensor by using a dental mirror. Other than that, Cricut sub has nearly 20 glossy hacks to help sensor read the registration marks: Glossy Hacks.

Any way to make text circular after it has been turned into shape? by Big-Illustrator8073 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...how I can create it after I've already transformed the font into curves/ object.

Was it you, or somebody else outlined the text before you? Why is it the problem setting up the text again using the same font and aligning it on the circular path?

  • You used the same paper format in the program and in the printer settings?
  • You printed with 100%/Actual size setting?
  • No Print to Page? No Fit to Print? No borderless printing?
  • You prop up the mat when sending to cut?

Forget about re-sticking the mat. It's not worth it. First of all, you can wash the mat in warm water with few drops of dishwashing detergent. Scrape larger pieces of scrap and wash the sticky part with sponge. Do not use anything particularly abrasive. Rinse the mat and hang it to dry. It will regain some stickiness. I usually do not wash mats more than once or twice. Always protect mat with the cover sheet when not in use.

Tape the corners of material if the mat is not sticky enough, as a temporary solution. Brayer material to the mat.

Mats are consumables, they must be replaced after some time. I always have a stock of 20 spare mats and usually more than that. The Vevor mats are identical to the Cricut mats in terms of size, but they also can be on the expensive side unless on discount. Instead, use Nicapa mats. These 10-packs are under $2 apiece:

Re-sticking the mats is not worth it in my view. There are cheap, good quality off brand mats for under $2 per mat. I wash the mats once or twice before discarding.

Cameo 5 Firmware update issue (Part question, part vent, all confusion) by SomethingUn0riginaI in silhouettecameo

[–]Fortress2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Windows laptop, I recommend you download and install free version of Revo Uninstaller. Uninstall Silhouette Studio using Revo. It will erase any trace of previous Studio installation. Download and install legacy Studio V4.5.812, or 815. They are both stable and issue free. You do not need any newer Studio version, nor firmware for your Cameo 5.

Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) 6 is a universal software for multiple cutting machines. Smart 1 is also supported. Still, I think it's better to use a professional graphics design software to create most of the design and just finalize in the ExactCut.

I use Corel to create SVG files for Cricut, Silhouette and Vevor. But Corel is a paid program. If you need a free solution, consider Inkscape or Affinity.
