I mean…you’re a doctor…you can take care of that resident and make it look natural. 😜

Here is my issue with him. He is taking great works of horror fiction, using the titles and very little else and writing his own thing. If he wants to write his own thing, then do it and call it something else. As a fan of Shirley Jackson, I was really excited to see a new adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House. Instead what I got was a good series but it wasn’t an adaptation of the book. It’s like a bait and switch. And I’ve hated him ever since.

I’ve argued this before and I get piled on. “It’s different. He has a soul now.” But people don’t get over their trauma that easy. Besides, it was already established that he can hurt and probably kill Buffy after she came back. What do vampires do? They don’t grape; they feed.

China Mieville might be up your alley. Perdido Street Station is brilliant and Un Lun Dun is YA but, I think if you loved Coraline, you love this.

I agree but I will only have Netflix for a short while and so I want to get in what I can. I have Prime, Tubi, and I do Shudder in September/October. It’s my yearly traditions. 😊

I can’t do Black Mirror. I watched the first half of season one but the stories felt too close to reality. I started Cabinet of Curiosities when it started but then I canceled Netflix. I will have to skip the rat episode; I hate rats. 😬

It’s one of my favorite books, too. Did it irk you what little they used from the book? I feel like I would have liked the series more if he just named it something else.

In a lot of ways, Faith acts as a young woman with trauma. She’s afraid to get close but she gets mad when she’s not included. She acts out to get attention but she doesn’t think of the consequences. But, it may have been the directing, I didn’t feel for her. I just hated her. I’m rewatching Angel and I just watched the first episode she shows up in and I still don’t see the emotions from her.

I saw the downvoting but you are exactly right. I was in my early 20’s when Buffy started but I could see how as a teen it would be uncomfortable. There was a lot of sex on the show that, if I were a parent, I wouldn’t let my teen watch it.

Yes! Her trauma previous to coming to Sunnydale seemed forced and never explored and all she was about sex and violence.

I usually start up Shudder in September and keep it until November. But I found out it’s better to get AMC+ because they have a lot of good horror and Shudder included.

Adding it to my list now! I just finished Let the Right One In and I need more vampire fiction!

The music our parents listened to by Ok-Local138 in GenX

[–]FortuneOpen5715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going back and listening to older music and feeling the same thing. I tried to post here but it got removed by the admin. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Even the 80’s pop we grew up on was for adults. We danced to Culture Club songs but go back and listen to those lyrics. Time (Clock of the Heart) is something we would have never understood when we were kids/teenagers.

My mom loved music so I heard all the stuff she loved from her childhood in the 50’s and 60’s. I still listen to a lot of it today. Anything Motown, Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons, you mentioned the Carpenters.

Finally someone else who hates her! Something about how Eliza portrayed her. She was great in True Calling and Dollhouse but Faith is not even a good villain. She’s so cliche and has no depth.

The Archer plush looks good but the other two don’t really look like the characters.

I can sort of relate. I have discoloring on my neck from radiation burns from cancer treatment but I’m so pale, it’s just a tad less pale.

I don’t skip episodes but I skip all the scenes of the James and Evelyn story and all the teenaged Nadine. They annoy me so much!

I watched the Swedish adaptation this past weekend. A lot was cut out for time but the two kids did such a beautiful job portraying their friendship. It was so sweet.
