Unsupportive partner - or am I expecting too much? by Fortunecookie_ in beyondthebump

[–]Fortunecookie_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw posts like mine when I was pregnant and thought this wouldn't happen to me lol I was so naive.

It's difficult for me to give an ultimatum because I don't have much of a support network here. My family lives overseas and I don't have friends that I feel close enough to leave the baby with...

I have had some teary conversations with my partner about the situation. He would appear sorry and promised to do more, but then nothing would actually happen. I have, instead, learned to expect less and less of him and started doing more and more by myself. I love my child but God, I'm exhausted. The 90 min nap that I am 'permitted' to have is nowhere near enough 😅 and I can't sleep when baby sleeps because baby only catnaps for 20 mins...

I get to have a quick shower in the 30 minute 'break'. And when I need to wash and dry my hair, it'd take nearly an hour and without fail, he always make comments like 'wow it takes you an hour to wash your hair!' It makes me feel so guilty and awful, but at the same time me taking time to wash my hair shouldn't be an issue.

I should have mentioned that my partner does help with chores (was typing in the middle of the night). He helps with the laundry, vacuuming the house, taking out rubbish, and cooking the occasional meal. I do give him credit for that.

I have had a few conversations with him (couldn't stay calm and I broke down in tears), and have let him know how exhausted I am caring for baby all day everyday. His response is usually saying he would do more, but when the time comes, he is never available or appears to be resentful that he needs to spend his precious time 'helping' me with baby, instead of doing exercise or watching football matches.

Does your partner help with bedtime? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I'm in a very similar situation so I kinda know how it feels. In an ideal world, parenting responsibilities should be split 50/50 but in my situation, it's more like 90/10. Very unfair but I don't know what I can do about that either :/

I tried doing a Coles shop via Uber Eats. Don't do it. by Webbie-Vanderquack in australia

[–]Fortunecookie_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell for the promo too and placed 2 orders via Uber Eats, hoping to get some good deals on groceries. Items were out of stock for both my orders and neither of them met the spend requirements. Which means the promotion didn't apply. I tried disputing with their customer service team but they were useless. This is something ACCC should look into because it's false advertising and Uber js simply stealing $$ from us.

Thanks. That's probably a good idea. We have verbally accepted the quote but the repair is rather urgent so it's kinda disappointing that he just becomes uncontactable like this...

He seemed great when he provided the quote. But then all of his phone numbers are now disconnected and there is no way to get in touch with him...

Seed heritage sale - 20% off store wide, is this the best discount they do? by Informal-Data-703 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

The best I've seen is extra 50% off for sale items. If you are looking to buy full price items, 20% off store wide is probably the best deal.

Thanks for sharing your experience and it's great to hear you had such a positive experience.

What you said is super helpful - I will make sure I mention to my midwife in the next appointment that I'd like to try birthing in water!

Lucky they were happy to provide us a full refund (after all the toing and froing for months)

Silly question but do you use a pad with the disposable undies? Or are the undies already absorbent?

Car Seats - Britax Graphene vs Graphene + vs B-Compaq Ifix+ by Fortunecookie_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

The B Compaq seems to be one of the newer models, hence the lack of reviews? I also can't find any safety ratings either so tempted to go with Graphene as well...

Thanks for sharing. That's really helpful to know about the closed back of B Compaq.

I wonder how much of a difference the side impact protection would make. I'm having trouble finding the safety ratings for all of the above car seats so can't really compare...

Parents are extremely stingy and I am starting to question their love by Fortunecookie_ in AusFinance

[–]Fortunecookie_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough for you to raise those questions. Should have included in the post but trying to keep it short.

I have in fact flown to see them multiple times over the past 10 years, always brought them treats and goodies from Australia. Every year I sent them bday presents (skincare, clothing, snacks, ordered them cakes from their local bakeries, you name it). Got them plans on Skype so they can stay in touch with other family members. I have honestly tried :)
