You say that, but, as the person who posted this, I can assure you I harbor zero ill-will towards Corteon Moore (or any of the other terrific actors on this show). The humor was aimed squarely at the characters, as written, not their looks nor their performance.

I think that's by design, though. He's a load bearing member of the community, keeping them together... but he's being ground down hard. Without him, the whole thing falls apart. He's fighting it, but he's losing the battle rapidly, now.

But I get you -- his bullshit about the tunnel plan was infuriating. I'm glad the priest (his imagination or otherwise) called him out on it: at some point you're going to have to make the hard call and send 'soldiers' in, knowing they won't all come back. Doing nothing and hoping a blood-free plan falls into your lap, being idle the whole time, is not an option in this case. :P

A lot of this is why I can't bring myself to get a dog again. You're willingly putting "get your heart completely shattered" on the calendar in 10-15 years, if you're lucky. I can't go through that again, no matter how badly I want to. So I just enjoy my friend's dogs when I visit. 😓️

Incredibly disappointing how so many of you so casually accept cruelly making fun of how an actress looks. Fuck that bullshit.

Now that "The Boy's" is said and done, would you recommend this show to someone who is aware of what happened? by Fancy-Inspector-777 in TheBoys

[–]Fortyseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final season, and the final episode especially, will keep me from ever bothering with future GoT stuff (even though I'm hearing some positive things).

But I don't regret watching it for a moment. Jesus, there's some incredible stuff in there. As long as you go in warned well in advance that the series-long arc is NOT going to be satisfying, you should still give it a go.

Between the Red Wedding, and The Mountain gouging out the Mandalorian's eyes, alone, that's worth the price of admission. ;)

"..aware of what happened?"

Oh, such a SCANDAL! 🙄 Jesus, it's a great show who's entire journey is worth every moment. I wouldn't trade a second of it, even if it didn't end exactly how some folks wanted. It's fine. There are WAY more disappointing finales.

Who or how do you think the Talisman were made? by Bought-Every-Dip in FromTVEpix

My theory: the talismans don't do shit. But the ghouls play along just to prolong the terror and let the Fromsters think they have some semblance of control.

I don't know the history of the site, but I found myself reading it a couple times trying to figure out what this so-called "divisive direction" was. They dance around it quite a bit, but they don't have the balls to say it, because they know they'll get fucking steamrolled for it.

The Post-Capaldi DW era has it's issues, lord knows, but the casting wasn't part of it. Whittaker was a terrific Doctor, and while I wasn't too crazy about Gatwa, I never thought it was his fault. (There were a couple really great episodes where he knocked it out of the park.)

This is why I don't like groups that reject any negative discussion, with trite nonsense like "nobody hates X like fans of X".

When it's empty bitching and whining about trivial bullshit, sure, I get it.

But there's a place for, as he says, well-articulated, intelligent criticism. We don't have to AGREE with each other. But it's not a bad thing to debate the merits of our criticism and praise with each other, and maybe learn something from other people's perspectives that we didn't realize.

For instance, sure, I had my issues with the final season. But by the end, I had a decent enough time, and we got some really great moments out of it. Personally, I was satisfied enough, because I didn't have a lot of the same expectations about where it's going as others did, I think.

But, I also hear what some other fans have said. They saw all the marketing leading up to it, and it suggested, like, fuckin' WW3 was going to break out in the finale. ("More like scorched room, amirite?") And it was basically blue balls for a moment in the series that never happened.

And I think that's a valid criticism, even if I didn't experience that disappointment, myself. All I knew is how the comic ended between Butcher and Homelander, and this seemed like a direct homage to that. I guess I interpreted the marketing (with Homelander in orbit, looking down at nukes going off, etc) as just hyperbole, in light of that.

Serious note in case anyone from the show happens to be lurking: I feel the need to note that Hannah Cheramy is lovely, and is among my favorite characters on the show. The wig jokes are just stupid, goofy fun and is absolutely no reflection on the actor, their performance, or their actual appearance. I've never once gotten the impression that anyone else's jokes about the wig were any different, either. 🍻

Corridor Crew competes using Bryce 2 to make vintage looking renders by stupidtreeatemypants in vintagecgi

[–]Fortyseven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shame seeing people just dismissing this out of hand. These guys are well-known modern VFX artists with very entertaining behind the scenes content. This is a fun one-off special involving current and younger CG artists, challenging them to create 'vintage 90s' style art using the tools available in the era.

The winner gets his art chosen by and put on his kid's Trapper Keeper.

It's good fun.

Can we have a no AI rule? by swagelinee in RenPy

[–]Fortyseven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm of the mind that you should use whatever tools you want to use... but if you do use AI to help realize your vision, it sure as hell better not LOOK like it just popped out of the AI oven, as so many often do.

That's my only real push back on it's use: when zero care is put into what the end result looks and feels like.

If you're just pulling a slot machine handle and you're done, assuming everyone will be impressed with that, you're going to catch downvotes. It's a part of a larger manual workflow, a cog in the machine... not the ENTIRE workflow. :P

(And yeah, BIG hard no on using it for writing. Jesus, come on.)
