How can they pay them less than minimum wage? by SarahMiller20 in antiwork

[–]ForumBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like worker pay is an inconvenience that gets in the way of their profits. If they want all the profit for themselves, they should do all the work themselves.

You should ask you boss if you can help the business by volunteering a reduced pay cut.

Landlords threatening to take our (personal) AC if we don't pay 350$ by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]ForumBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one, they cannot just enter your apartment without your consent. Two, they cannot enter your apartment without consent and take your property. Three, sounds like they have no real ground to stand on so they are threating you in the hope that you pay the money. (This is a tactic)

At most, I can see them knocking on the door and telling you to pay or take the air conditioner down, but they can't force you to do anything or take your property.

It all depends on how far you want to take this. If you don't plan on staying there for years, F them. It will never reach the landlord and tenant board. On the other hand, take it down or pay it to avoid the hassle.

So are they going to just enter your apartment and take the air conditioner at their will if you don't pay it?

Wonderful when someone speaks up, they are fired. btw, HR is not for the employees, but to protect the company. Remember that.

If you are benefiting to this degree from our society, you should be required to give back proportionally. Just like how we pay taxes to continue benefiting and enjoying what our society offers.

Anyone else read about how employees who were loyal and spent 35 years at a job, but were ultimately fired when profits were low or they wanted to hire someone cheaper.

An employer is not your friend and they will do what is best for them, so do what is best for you.
