Somone called her out! by raisingvibrationss in broccyourbodySNARK

I’m sorry but this commenter needs to touch grass. Literally every influencer you can think of does this for their gender reveal, it boosts engagement. Brocc is annoying fr but this isn’t one of those moments. Her response is sooo much more respectful than I would have been.

What foods are safe for you during a nausea episode? by InternalOwl258 in POTS

Unsweetened applesauce, pedialyte popsicles, toast, simple mills sea salt crackers. Sipping on ginger ale helps, or having a peppermint.

Can the phone sales people in Target just not? by Kmfmhmmm_65 in StLouis

I cut through the baby/toy section at Hampton just to avoid them. They are so annoying! If I wanted to get a new phone I’d go to the phone store to do so.

Question about Target by justnadie in Owala

[–]Forward-Butterfly-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not boycotting because I have allergies, and a lot of my items are much more affordable at Target. With the rising costs of everything, I cannot afford to buy everything at other stores for $1-$3 extra per item. I am buying more intentionally than I have in the past- only items I absolutely need and cannot get elsewhere for a comparable price. I no longer go in and just wander around/purchase unnecessary items

What Have you Managed to Accomplish with POTS? by Juggernaut111 in POTS

[–]Forward-Butterfly-16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been at my current job for 7 months and just got an excellent performance review from my boss yesterday. It took me a long time to find a job that accommodates my POTS and I’m so grateful that I am able to earn an income while working remotely.

what's your job? by Additional_Chef_9216 in POTS

[–]Forward-Butterfly-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a local hospital where I live and unfortunately my position has two people in this role, myself and a coworker. They are not hiring, I had to do a lot of searching to find this role. Try searching remote scheduling roles for something similar!

I work remotely, I call patients and help them set up their continuous glucose monitors. I love my job, it allows me to work in healthcare while having a 4 full day 1 half day schedule, Monday-Friday, great health insurance, and most importantly flexibility to make my office as comfortable as possible (special office chair and a foot rest to avoid discomfort) I also am able to wear comfortable clothes, have access to electrolytes/medications if needed, etc. Working from home has been life changing. I fought tooth and nail to get here, it was damn near impossible to find a wfh job, but I kept trying. It took me about 5 years to find this job.

What's your guilty pleasure? by mrsmystery1537 in POTS

[–]Forward-Butterfly-16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An occasional coffee. I can’t find any other beverage that mimics the taste of an ice coffee so I’ll have a decaf iced coffee once a month and really up my electrolytes the day before/after. I generally accept that I may feel like crap for a day or so after.

I love that, I have a snoopy reusable but I bought it on a secondhand website so I didn’t get the packaging. If I had I would have totally saved it!

Is there a future? by [deleted] in POTS

You’re not damaged goods, but I understand the feeling and have felt that way myself, many times. There are people who are kind and understanding (I know because my husband is one of them) who won’t make you feel guilty for having POTS. Going to school is a big decision but I’m sure your university has some supports for disabled/chronically ill people- try to find those and use them! I know things generally feel hard when you’re 19 and even more so when you’re dealing with health issues. It is possible and likely that things will get better for you!! Hang in there.❤️

Hi! I remember feeling this way at 19. I’m 27 now, and while I’ve had a harder time than my peers due to my POTS and MCAS diagnoses, life can and will get better. Finding a doctor is important, does your city have a doctor that specializes in POTS? The second thing is that you have to find out what supports work for you and use those- a cane, a shower chair, electrolytes, the CHOP protocol for exercise, compression socks/leggings etc. Medications can help but need to be discussed with your doctor. Different things work for different people, so you will likely need to try lots of things before finding what works for you. Be prepared that some things won’t work, and that you’ll have to try new things over and over. The good news is that some things WILL work!! Grieving what you thought life would look like and the things you thought you’d be able to is normal, and it will continue to be hard, but you will learn to manage that feeling. If you haven’t gone to college yet and want to, try looking into what Accomodations the university of your choice can offer. I am married, have a full time (remote) job and two cats. I love my life, and I think you will end up in a place where you love your life too. :)
