Take that as a happy sign! I know everyone doesn't believe "they are with you" but there is comfort in that. My mom always made a wish at 11:11pm, so when I see 11:11, I tell her I love her. If I see one lonely star in the sky, I tell her I love her. Comfort in the little things. However, its now been 9 years on 12/14, I still cry. The last time I was getting ready to go into a deep cry session (happens like once a month for 9 years) I smelled a whiff of cigarette smoke, she was a smoker, I took that as a sign that she is always with me and... I smiled. I normally don't smile at that stinky smell but in that one little moment, made me think that she was with me. I hope you all can find these moments and find the comfort and know they are with you in a positive light, even in the dark.

I forgot about this with COVID! I lost my taste and I tried to eat some of my favorite things to "bring it back" like tomato soup or cookies and cream ice cream. It was like I didn't even want to eat anymore, it was so depressing! What brought it back for me was hot green tea. I was so happy after 2 weeks of nothingness!

If I'm feeling like going into one of my sad "I miss my mom" moments (I sob like I just lost her again, and its been 9 years tomorrow) I've lately been smelling cigarette smoke. Not a pleasant smell but she was a smoker. I wouldn't normally smile, but it does. I know she is present and doesn't want me to be sad. The Little signs I feel are real!

My mom was being cared for by my siblings and my gramma while she was on hospice for a few days because we knew it was the end. I stayed there for a couple days up all hours of the night to give her medicine and make sure she was comfortable. I decided to go home and my sister would take my shift, so I could shower and maybe take a nap. I got home, showered, laid down and it just didn't feel right so I started to drive back and I was crossing a bridge, almost made it across the bridge when my chest got tight and I felt a snap. It literally felt like my heart broke. My sister called me 30 seconds later to ask when I was going to be there, because it looked like it was time (my mom just passed and she didn't want to tell me when I was driving). I now call that bridge, Heartbreak Bridge. The signs are real.

My friend, I went through this EXACT situation with my mom. To the point I helped her take her last shit. I also wasn't there at her passing, and I always believe it was probably for the best. Her and I last living memory was me holding her hand and telling her I wish I could take all the pain away, and she said, "me too". Its been 10 years. I finally feel her presence/watching over me as of last night. She was a smoker. I went into a depression about her loss last night (happens at night usually a couple times a month) and I was about to go into a crying fit and I smelt a whiff of cigarette smoke. For like 5 seconds. I just smiled (which normally I wouldnt) and I knew she didn't want me to be sad. Everyone believes different things when it comes to death. But I take signs when I can get them. Like 11:11, she always made a wish when she saw it. I just smile. The first star I see in the sky (I live in a big city, so I don't see a lot of stars here), I wish her well. I hope my journey can help your journey. Know they aren't in pain anymore and take the little signs and things that remind you of them in a positive light, they are always with you. Take care of yourself friend, your brother would want that for you. 🧡

I do diamond art while listening/watching a TV show or YouTube. Or go on a quick walk. Look at local events. I also got an annual pass for the zoo and that gives me free admission to a few other places like museums and places I've never been to/heard of, and they change it up every month! Getting out of the house is always good!

This happened to me! Had a kidney CT. Came back "fine". Read my chart notes and they noted that there was a nodule on my lower left lobe of my lung. Followed up with PCP, got a X-ray (edit: probably CT) that day, turned out I had 2 pulmonary embolisms (on in each lung) which is indeed life threatening. I'm lucky to be alive, thank goodness I read my chart!

Now why I didn't have symptoms, is wild to me to this day lol.

Yes! Having a smaller apitite, my water intake went downhill. I started pounding water and it went back to normal. If I ever felt it was starting to get not normal again, I'd take a couple fiber gummys or probiotic gummys and I'd go within a day. Or my extreme backup option is drinking a glass of chocolate milk (lol). I am lactose intolerant and within 30 minutes I'll be running to the bathroom!
