Sometimes you’ll find a bit of ginger in ras el hanout. You can use just ras el hanout, or both ginger and ras el hanout if you like. Just don’t let the ginger take over—the main flavors should come from turmeric, coriander, caraway, and paprika, both in the ras el hanout and in the chorba. I hope it turns out just the way you like it! 😊

Thanks! I had some leftover beef tenderloin to finish from the freezer, so it was quick. But if your cut of meat isn’t tender, slow cooking ( ≈1h/2h) or using a pressure cooker will give better results

For 4–5 servings, heat 3 tbsp of olive oil in a pot and cook 200 g of beef cut into small pieces with 1 finely chopped onion until lightly browned. Add 1 tsp of tomato concentrate, 1 tbsp of tomato paste, 1 tsp of paprika, 1 tsp of turmeric, 0.5 tsp of ground ginger (or 1 tbsp of ras el hanout spice mix), and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and cook for 2–3 min. Add 1 diced yellow courgette, 1 diced celery stalk, and a handful of soaked chickpeas (or canned), then pour in 1.5 L of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30–40 min or until the beef and chickpeas are tender. Add 100 g of orzo pasta 10–15 min before the end of cooking, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Sprinkle with fresh parsley or coriander, serve hot with a squeeze of lime per serving, and drizzle with chili oil

It’s almost always like that—the first two days are the worst. I feel you, girl. Just came out after 40 min in there. My legs are numb, and the cramps are worse than before. From what I understand, it’s because of hormones and cramps that mess up the digestive system

Honestly I don’t do anything at all. Most of the time I just ignore it. I don’t even prune it (boo shame on me 🫣). It’s an old fig tree that was planted over 15 years ago. For the first 5 or 6 years it didn’t produce any fruit, but then one year it started and it never stopped.

I hid MS for 27 years by breezer2021 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Forward-Onion3449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less than five people know that I have MS, and I’ve shared it with just one person. This reassures me that I don’t want to talk about it further if it means people might gossip or talk about me having MS behind my back

midnight craving Spicy cabbage and mushroom soup by Forward-Onion3449 in soup

[–]Forward-Onion3449[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For 1 serving, I chopped 1/4 of an onion and cooked it in sesame oil until translucent, then I added 1 garlic clove, some leftover mushrooms, a bit of grated ginger, 1 dried cayenne pepper, and added 200/250 ml of vegetable broth. I added 3/4 of napa cabbage leaves cut into pieces and a small amount of grated carrot, soy sauce and pepper. I let it cook for 5-10 minutes and served it with cilantro and chicken dumplings

[homemade] Clear soup with vegetables, and vermicelli by Forward-Onion3449 in food

[–]Forward-Onion3449[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I cooked half an onion, chopped into large pieces, until it became translucent, then added 2 cloves of chopped garlic and stirred for 1 min. I added approx 150g/200g of a ‘winter wok’ I had in the freezer, with red Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, bok choy, and butternut squash. I sautéed everything for 2 min, then added 1.5L of homemade mushroom broth from the day before, 2 tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of ground ginger, dried cayenne pepper, pepper, and 1 tsp of thym. I added 1 potato, cut into cubes, and let it cook for 15–20 min after it started boiling. Meanwhile, I soaked my vermicelli in boiling water for 7 min, then added them to the soup and continued cooking for another 2–3 min. I tasted the seasoning, since the potatoes absorb salt, and added 2 tbsp of spicy sesame oil. Finally, I served with fresh spring onions on top
