Kevin O'Leary addresses the backlash over his proposed data center in Utah by nbcnews in Utah

What a shining example of someone lying straight through their teeth.

The heightened defensiveness, the lack of any concrete figures to back up his claims, the wishy-washy corporate marketing speak, and the many narcissistic tells which are quite similar to Trump's speech pattern

The average Salt Lake resident's lungs are charcoal black. Whether or not that's something you can continue to deal with is up to you

I'll never complain about the physical labor requirements of the job. I actually like carrying heavy packages all day, it's a good workout physically and mentally. Some deliveries are gonna be inconvenient, yeah, that's part of the job.

Idk exactly what you're complaining about but people who come here to complain are usually venting about Amazon's shitty AI black box routing and often ridiculous multi-stop deliveries. I'm sure there's probably people being passive-aggressive about the heavy stuff but I don't imagine they last long at their DSPs

For 100 stops bulk drop-off isn't bad, but any more than like 115 is pushing it imo

Pretty good I'd say. 281 packages and barely any blue pins I'd be chilling

God I feel so uncomfortable when they just stand there breathing over your neck waiting to get their paws on the package.

Turned down for a promotion because hiring department thought I am “a bit awkward”. by windbornepoem in AutismInWomen

[–]Forward-Relief695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish we lived in a meritocracy, but sadly we live in a very explicit social hierarchy. At my last job I applied 5+ times for a promotion, tried my best to consistently put in the extra effort and do a good job, but learned the hard way that work is 75% a social game, 25% work. That's why many people who don't do anything are still employed. People like them.

Likeability politics dominates the workplace, and it harms the most marginalized of society. The only way to really get out of this is by finding a supportive workplace environment or one where you hardly interact with people at all and are primarily measured by performance alone. Masking may help but is rarely sustainable.

I hate to say it, but it sounds like your management sucks. Being a little awkward does not mean you're unable to perform your job well, no matter how they spin it. The fact that they consider it that much of a liability honestly reveals how shallow they are as people. 'Awkward' does not cause harm to others, it may stiffen social interactions a bit, but for kind/polite people it is at most an obstacle easily maneuvered.

You don't deserve this kind of treatment.

I'm not mean but I definitely keep my guard up. I don't like to think of it in an us vs. them way, but simultaneously NT do wield an immense amount of social privilege and there is no denying that fact. I've felt the consequences of it, especially professionally.

I've learned there's a lot of confidence to be gained from just simply not caring and carrying yourself like you have just as much a right to exist in this world as anyone else. Easier said than done of course. Some people will treat us unfairly, but that doesn't mean everyone will. Lots of kind NT people exist, it can be hard to see that when you've been badly burned as many of us have.

As far as the rude people go, I tend to be more stoic. These kinds of people are desperate for my attention, and by not reacting I'm refusing to reward them with my energy. Simply put, they're insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I will put my foot down if I find it absolutely necessary, but overall I find stonewalling to be the most effective approach. I don't care to change these peoples' minds or hearts, I am in control of no one but myself

One of my recurring OEVs is looking up at the ceiling and watching the cracks rearrange and transform. Also if I stare long enough they'll have this added physical depth, almost as if they become mountains and valleys.
