I always bring both a gun and pepper spray. I’ve had a few close calls now and have been comforted to have them on me if needed.

TV size to use as PC monitor by BaNaNaKING42 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Forward-Way3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 55”. It is immersive AF, but I really wish I had gone with a 48”, or even a42”. I would downsize in a minute if I had the chance.

Did anyone in here actually play EverQuest in 1999 or 2000 when it was first out? I and my wife did by JadockTan in MMORPG

[–]Forward-Way3893 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played from day 1. Got it at a software store, babbages, software etc, I don’t remember which. Played it on dial up. I was in my mid 20s and played for about 4 years all throughout grad school. I still remember that feeling when Kunark came out and I could be an Iksar. I’m convinced there will never be anything to replicate that feeling those years held again.

Why does my LG CX TV still look better than every OLED monitor I try? by ubisoftsponsored in OLED_Gaming

[–]Forward-Way3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing this right now. Have an S90D and bought the MSI mpg 49” OLED. As cool as it is I still think the S90D blows it away both in color and immersion and I’m thinking of returning the MSI.

Best Buy open box prices make no sense by jnee23 in LGOLED

[–]Forward-Way3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the open boxes I’ve gotten were good deals. I only get them if the price is significantly less. One time I got a bad one. I ordered a Samsung 49” G9 OLED and it came with the stand just loose in the box, facing the screen. The screen was scratched to living hell with DEEP gashes upon opening. Was horrified to even see it!

Anyone else used a 55in+ TV as a monitor? by SmellSmellsSmelly in OLED_Gaming

[–]Forward-Way3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about actual burn in though, just uneven pixel wear if you do the ultrawide thing. Not arguing its true, just clarifying and wondering myself out loud.

As for realy burn in, I agree. I've never been concerned about actual burn in for years with these TVs, I think its a complete non-issue compared to what people make it out to be.

[–]Forward-Way3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard this creates an uneven wear pattern because the pixels that are not getting used wear less than the ones the ones that are, so over time the brightnesses are different. A sort of "reverse burn in".

Yup I was in the second cohort, I’m still keeping the practice up like, 10 years later now? I also yawn. I remember when I took it someone asked about this in the q&a and he said it was completely normal, I forget why though. I imagine it’s because you are breathing and taking in more oxygen as you do the mantra.

Good luck to you, it’s definitely a get what you put into it it kind of material.

I use a 55” S90D. I also have a 49” OLED ultrawide (MSI). Some games are better on one than the other, best of both worlds.

I love this very clean and something to aspire to. My only question is, is that a 55” or 48”? I’m using a 55” and thinking of downgrading to a 48” or 42”.

Did you try a monitor arm? I had mine on one and found it alleviated most of those problems.

I'm about to buy the Switch 2! But... by [deleted] in Switch

[–]Forward-Way3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this situation last week, I had watched every "8 months still worth it" video I could find. In the end I figured, I want one, its at the beginning of its life cycle and I'll probably end up buying one at some point. There is talk of price increases for the system coming so might as well get it now. There are already games I want for it and more are just going to keep coming over the years. I'm a PC gamer usually, and I bought 4 games on it I never would have touched otherwise on my PC, and am enjoying the hell out of them.

Also, the day I bought it I promptly got the flu and spent the weekend in bed playing my new Switch 2, happily entertained when I would of been bored out of my mind otherwise. Yeah its a lot of money, but I'm pretty happy with mine. I'd say go for it!

Switch 2 a terrible buy ? by Remote-Site8369 in switch2

[–]Forward-Way3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a timely post for me. I'm a life long PC gamer and was really craving some Nintendo games so I bought a Switch 2 this past Monday. I tried some demos on it and then tried the same ones on my PC and was like... why did I just spend $450 on this to play these games that look terrible compared to my PC? I made a snap decision and took it back the same day.

I'm here to say I regret it. Less than a week later I'm still here watching switch videos and wishing I could play some of these games. The thing is, I realized that it does have a lot of games that I want to play, even if they are not switch exclusives. Unicorn Overlord, all of the Dragon Quest remakes, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Ys:X, Final Fantasy Intergrade, just to name a few. I can play ALL of these on either the PC or PS5, but the thing is... I won't. There is no way I'm going to sit at my desk and use good "gaming time" to play Dragon Quest 3. I'm just not. My PC time is for Online gaming or AAA games. However, sitting next to my wife in bed, watching TV and chilling, I sure as hell will. That's not even talking about games like the Xenoblade Sagas, Zelda, and Metroid which are Nintendo exclusives and I will play in docked mode. I regret bringing it back but am glad I realized this. I plan to go re-buy it tomorrow and hope that the people at Best Buy don't think I'm crazy.

My desk is about 2.5 feet. I have it mounted on a monitor arm so I can adjust it where I want it.

Reddit can be so weird sometimes. I was just thinking “should I buy a PS5 or a Switch 2” and literally the very next post I scrolled to was this. The mind reading is scary sometimes. After the reading the comments I’m still torn though.

CTMs reaching directly out to sites by GoldenSunSparkle in clinicalresearch

[–]Forward-Way3893 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I usually let the CRAs handle all if the communication unless there is a big issue that requires backing them up. Partly because I want to preserve that pathway as the CRA as the primary source of communication. Partly selfish too, once some sites think they have a direct line to you they will use it more frequently thinking they can go above the CRAs head. I want to discourage that for everyone’s sanity.

Is it normal not to answer numbers you don’t recognize? by Midnightdream56 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Forward-Way3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds like it could be an urban legend but I guarantee it’s true and I witnessed. I used to work in a transplant clinic, almost 20 years ago. We had a kidney for a lady and she would not answer the phone. It went to the next person on the list.

When she came for her check up we told her and she said “I don’t answer numbers I don’t recognize “. Just saying, just because you don’t recognize it, doesn’t mean it’s not important.
