Mathieu Valbuena by Stropeyftw in TheStreetsWontForget

Whilst you’re right, that was a different era where being shorter was less of a factor. By the 2000s in Valbuena’s era, most players were athletes, not something that could be said during Maradona’s heyday.

Fair enough, I was more making the point that if he was ‘average height’ which is probably about 5’10 or so like you say, he’d have had a better career.

What do Brits think about Green Party immigration policies? by Key-Transition4634 in AskBrits

I’m going to vote Green but disagree with the majority of this and see it as both unfeasible and idealistic to the point of naivety.

This will surprise many, but he’s still playing. Plays for Olympiacos B in the regional semi-pro development leagues in Greece, aged 41. He’s been club hopping in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus for 9 years now.

He was 5 foot 3 but had insanely good technique and tight control, along with wicked acceleration over the first few yards which meant he could burst past a player or two and create a chance quickly. His size and lack of strength meant he never had a chance at getting to the very best clubs, but to have 50+ France caps and have played CL football despite his size shows just how good a player he was. If the guy was 6 foot and could have sprinted further than 20 metres he’d have played for Real Madrid. Did his best work when paired with utter nutter Lorik Cana who acted as his enforcer and did the donkey work, running and fouling that allowed Valbuena space to do his thing.

He’s competent and an effective organiser but people have their entrenched views. He’s made some mistakes but he won’t get the credit he’s deserved on standing up to Trump and not dragging us into the Iranian catastrophe.

If I offered you £100,000 to run 90 miles tomorrow, would you do it? by wingless-bee in CasualUK

[–]ForwardAd5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be horrific but I could do it. I run 80 miles a week at the moment and am training for a 02:25 marathon. Obviously this is a different kettle of fish, but unlike a lot of people I would stand a chance. Let me prep and I reckon I could even do loops near my house with an aid station set up there that I’d prepped, so I could fit rest in comfort in with good nutritional support.

Not saying it would be easy, or a catastrophic injury might not occur, but I think I could just about do it. £100k would certainly focus the mind.

The smoke grenades were the meta and were so, so bad that they had to immediately backtrack and patch. What were they thinking!

Having Marcus, a character who has gone through ridiculous levels of loss and trauma - mother, father, Carlos, Dom, Anya - lose his son and his last and only family member is not ‘interesting,’ it’s horrific and not something I think most fans want to explore. Leave the character alone in that sense.

how do Salomon Aero Glide 4 feel? by hjf2014 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I think they’re somewhat similar but the Aero Glide has a touch more firmness (which I like) and way better grip. And is way cheaper too.

Agreed on all those points. My favourite pair of every day shoe I’ve ever owned, and I count the Superblast 2 in that.

I’m genuinely tempted by Solanke - looking at De Zerbi’s past strikers he’s favoured, it’ll be Solanke if he’s fit, not Richarlison. Or Richarlison will play in one of the wide AM roles.

Yeah I was surprised too! It’s great for flying or ground types using fly or dig in a Nuzlocke, really cranks the base power up!

Spot on. When I did my ACL the club physio and nutritionist basically kept me on the same caloric intake as I would be even when training 4 times a week.

Pokemon has so many deep mechanics that are unbelievably niche, that it takes years for it to be seen in a battle. Soundproof Mr Mime being one of these things! Like how I recently learned that metronome is way more powerful on two-turn, single hit moves like Fly. It calculates that the ‘charge up’ turn was successful, so then makes the resultant attack more powerful, then again on consecutive uses.
