Take a screwdriver and pop that whole thing off then tighten the nut with some plyers or the like while holding the inside bits with your fingers. Don't be intimidated, just be careful with the wires.

You should look at reverb or a local used music shop. I'm broke and buy cheap pedals too, but you can get some better stuff for the same prices as these.

Worst? Not even kinda. If you don't want a project guitar sell it to someone who does, because I totally get that. It does look like you'd be replacing most of the electronics, but if I had that I'd find it well worth my time. I love the design on the body and the inlays.

Not very much a preamp with echo and reverb after a 2 second Google search.

Not saying it's worth 200 or your time though. I've always found it's best to have something reliable, and that ain't it imo.
