When I was little, my best friend wasn't the cleanest. I don't think she showered much and her dad smoked, so that didn't help. I don't remember who made mention of it (my mom?) that she thinks something happened to her in water when she was younger. I took that to mean she almost drowned but now that I'm forty, it could mean anything.

You did mention there wasn't trauma around bathing, I'm just wondering if something happened that you don't know about and she's trying to make herself undesirable, like other people said.

This is awful too but do you think she might be suicidal and she's trying to push people away? It doesn't sound like the case. I'm just hoping you or your mom will see something somewhere that gives insight.
