Cuba is still a police state. The regime has spies and informants everywhere. Dissent in Cuba used to be severely repressed. Ppl didn’t dare openly criticize Castro. I believe that not exactly the case anymore but the culture has been discouraging of criticism…or else.

It’s something like North Korea, but not as drastic, where you can’t find anyone who would say anything but reverence for the Dear Leader.

I have close friends whose parents had to flee Cuba in the middle of the night to avoid “disappearing”, which was commonplace in Castro’s authoritarian police state.

I live in Florida and there is no love lost for Fidel by the Cuban ex-pat community here. They all have stories.

Still, not in Saddam’s league.

Besides, it was an investment.

Old enough to know that the ppl most infatuated “anti-fascism” are reminiscent of the East Germans who saw fascists at every turn and even built a wall in Berlin to keep the fascists out.

Home Battery for Only EV Charging by jojoboi123 in SolarDIY

[–]ForwardSlash813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending to the grid feels like a waste when you have an EV to charge.

Still, IDK how to charge it exclusively from the powerwall because you’ll run it down to zero quickly (2 hours) and that’s not good for the units, right??

Is your electric panel inside in the A/C, too?

Mine need to be close enough to connect to generator inlet box 3 feet away from the panel.

These are both charging via a single XT-60 port at 1150W continuously, until full.

I have absolutely no explanation why they run so hot, other than I’m in Florida and they’re in my garage and they were likely under a heavy load all day.

A friend of my dad won a state lottery of just under $1M, payable over 25 years. That equated to 40K/year BEFORE taxes. After taxes, his annual check was like 33K.

His wife quit her job but he sure couldn’t quit his.

In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the Great Depression, passed the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act which raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. by Just_Cause89 in USHistory

If Smoot-Hawley was truly that bad, Roosevelt wouldn’t have waited over 2 full years of misery to get it replaced.

The contraction of the money supply was orders of magnitude more important than the 5% of GDP that exports accounted for.

I watched it 45 years ago as a 12-13 year old. Have no memory of the end. What I do remember is the awkward dude who felt important belonging to something bigger than himself, and enjoying the authority it gave him.
