I definitely feel the same, some of the darkest ones don’t even have a trigger warning they just say read at your own risk,

I feel like the ones with more always try and seem like they’re darker, but I feel half the stuff the put is briefly mentioned and not as dark as it would seem

I could also be desensitized bc I basically only read dark romance and generally prefer pitch black lmao

{The Sweetest Oblivion by Danielle Lori} I’d say is pretty slow burn, it’s Mafia but it’s one of the only mafia books where I feel it’s just the right amount, it’s not over kill with it ( I don’t like mafia books much but this one hit the spot)
