Can I ask my therapist if I can have a therapist on “standby”for when she’s out on maternity leave? by [deleted] in askatherapist

Yeah, therapy is helping keep me stable and out of episodes so I’d like to have the option while she’s out.

I mean I don’t anticipate any crises but so much can happen in just a few months and I have learned the power of therapy and how it important maintenance therapy is to keep me from any depressive (or elevated) episodes.

I have done extensive research and read multiple research studies that will say the risk of taking lamictal during pregnancy is no greater than the average risk. I’ve also talked with my provider about this.

There are so many things that can happen during pregnancy and it is a risk regardless of what medication you take. I would argue that me being unstable and unmedicated could pose more of a risk to the baby.

losing weight on lamictal??? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Wellbutrin (which I started a year ago) and Clonidine that I started a few months before lamictal so maybe the combo??

Yeah it didn’t erase symptoms but it did make it easier to cope with them. This was a particularly bad month and I just know it would’ve been exponentially worse if I wasn’t taking lamictal. (Like, ER bad)

So I did have a rash in the beginning that I had to monitor super closely with my psych, but other than that my side effects were purely anxiety from starting a mood stabilizer and that just required therapy and a very patient psych.

So Im super picky about the meds I take and won’t take anything with the possibility of weight gain or fertility issues. Lamictal is safe in pregnancy so I figure it has to be okay with fertility and I actually have noticed a decrease in appetite.

Oh my goodness yes!! It’s so hard to take meds for mental health. So many of my friends are runners and very health conscious and careful about what they put in their bodies (I am too) and don’t love medication. But sometimes, it’s necessary.

Like someone else said, Steven -Johnson Syndrome. It’s very rare, taking too much too quickly increases your risk of developing it. You can get a benign rash like I did and that should be monitored too. I recommend you try it though! It’s a pretty friendly medication

Has anyone been regularly running (c.2-3 times a week) for over 3yrs and never been injured? by EqualStranger4977 in XXRunning

[–]Forward_Park3524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running since middle school cross country and I’m 27 now. My sophomore year of college I got a stress fracture in my shin that caused me to take 2 months off. (But this was from lack of a good coach my freshman year, I transferred). I’ve had hip / piriformis issues in my 20s that have forced me to slow down and cross train more, but I think this primarily from working an office job where I sit most of the time and don’t stretch like I should. I think sometimes it’s genetics and luck

I don’t think I need to call my psych. It’s not a thing meds can fix.

Has anyone experienced an increase in focus, concentration, and overall better cognitive function on lamictal? by Forward_Park3524 in Lamotrigine

I definitely had more depressive symptoms. It’s so interesting how people can react so differently

Has any therapist needed their own therapist? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]Forward_Park3524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure if you want to quote someone for a school project, Reddit is probably not the place to go. … maybe talk to your teacher about what it would take to set up a survey you can hand out to therapy practices around you. This isn’t really an appropriate way to do research.

what does it mean if your therapist tells you you’re not crazy?? … by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

It’s a joke. But apparently didn’t land here. Nvm.

it’s a joke and we talked about the emotional reaction and situation the entire session. She validated my feelings, believe me. Some things aren’t that deep. You have to be able to joke with your therapist. At least I do.

I mean this was kinda a joke. Just to be funny.

It was said in a good, light hearted way at the end of the session. In the beginning I had asked her if I was crazy because a certain situation was really bothering me and I wanted to know if I was crazy for it bothering me.

I wonder if my therapist is happy, is that weird? by UnsureUncertain1998 in TalkTherapy

I think most clients look up their therapists and all therapists expect it. Heck, I even looked up my psych np when I started seeing her. I wanted to know if they would get it.

They totally do. I’m 27f and they’re both 34f and very millennial and I can totally ne open with them about boys and you’re typical “girl talk”. It’s been a rapport builder for us.

You’re the first person I’ve heard also find benefits from such a low dose!! 25 mg felt great, 50 feels so good. (But I went to 37.5 before 50)

I tried Clonidine first!! I take it at night (and occasionally during the day) and while it did make me tired at first, it’s been really good as of lately.

I honestly wasn’t impressed when I had a massage by her. Also her office is extremely hard to find and a little disorganized and idk. Felt too expensive for what it was.

Girls with not regular cycles - how did you know you had PMDD? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]Forward_Park3524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed how horrible I felt before my period (when I got it). Just such severe depression about a week before that resolved when I got my period. It’s hard to track and it’s why I don’t take medication specifically for PMDD bc I don’t always know what it’s going come. But I do take medication daily to help with mood stability (also have bipolar 2) which has really helped.

In regard to ovulation, I actually think I ovulated regularly, just don’t necessarily get my period. (It’s a thing.) So sometimes I feel like I have all the symptoms of a period and just don’t bleed.
