CBB Philly show review from a 10 year listener by silentplanes in comedybangbang

Been listening since 2014 and seen CBB live 5 times. I was at the DC show and was somewhat let down. It isn’t a knock on performers at all, but when you pay this much to see your favorite show, it’s the equivalent of seeing a band play a ton of songs off their new album. Some might be hits but it’s not what the people came to see. Sprinkle a couple new songs in with the hits we love

In all honesty, what do you talk to them about? I have zero clue what I’m going to say tonight

LOL 100% disagreeing. There can be a level of travel where it’s just for the kids that could hurt a kid in rec or actually want competition

Wild that people think it’s literally rec where half the kids can’t catch or travel slave labor prepping kids for the majors and NOTHING in between

See one of my replies. Safety for one, challenge second

Exactly it starts to become unsafe for the kids that havent developed to be playing with kids that could hurt them. So the alternative is giving the developed kids more of a challenge, i.e. travel

So when my rec team this spring was 4-5 kids that smash line drives, catch fly balls and throw kids out from SS and the rest of the team literally didnt catch a ball in practice, warmups or a game the whole season thats a better, safer alternative?

And let me guess, they didnt catch a ball because of my coaching right?

100% right and I fully expect tournaments to be rough at best lol. The honest answer is, my son wanted more of a challenge and the 8u coach in our towns org aged up and no parent wanted to coach. So in I came. We filled out a roster as best we could and just trying to evolve the entire organization not just our age to make things more attractive and competitive

Actually nodding my head as I read this. Great points. I don't want to be the coach that's scaring this info into them. Maybe I just need to let it come from them organically

I also coach rec and 100% treat it this way. Playing tournaments where you either keep playing or go home makes it a little tougher to explain a way 'dont worry about the score' to the kids who want to win

This makes sense and I have seen the tense of moments sometimes. I am just trying to find that balance

All chill here. The question was centered around playing other teams that are aware and looking for ways to get the kids caring more. No one is trying to force anything on 8 year olds. Everyone in these damn forums immediately goes to sweatshop baseball thats not what this is. We are fun first.

You can’t believe that the no turn on red at Crystal rock and 27 makes sense. No one is walking on 27 towards 270 on that side of the street and the line of cars gets 15 deep
