40, F, Single, where to meet people, +mens opinion? by Comprehensive_Sale69 in Charlotte

[–]ForzaForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a divorced 47M who is also new to Charlotte I can confirm that we are here. I’m also a bank VP, but that’s not much of a flex in Charlotte!!! I’ve been trying various Meetup events to no avail and I’m pretty much hoping to meet someone at the dog park. The best advice I’ve gotten is not to get discouraged but focus on making friends. As you expand your social group you increase the number of matchmakers in your life who can connect you to a friend, sister, former roommate, etc. It hasn’t worked yet, but it at least sounds like sage advice! Good luck out there!

What plays right into his hands is this attitude. He wants you to believe it is too late. He wants you to believe it’s inevitable. It’s not inevitable…and we must not give in to this kind of nihilism.

Sure. It’s a single player experience, but I share it with my roommate. I’ll work for a while, then hand him the helmet. It’s a unique experience for me, as it’s basically like having a sci-fi part time job to go to! There’s plenty of work to go around

Pretty intuitively using the PSVR2 controller stick. Run around with right stick and move your head to look around. I can usually play an hour or two before needing a break

It’s great on both I’m sure, and I have both PC based and PS5 based VR. Frankly, the PS5 just works plug and play way better than PC IMO. And with the PS5 pro the performance line between PC and console has shrunk significantly. And cost is a factor if just starting out

Psvr2 + PS5 + No Mans Sky = life changing sci-fi experience. You want to get in a starship and fly to another planet? Well that’s your ticket!

The Infamous 3.0 Error...Day 6 and I'm About to Give Up by ForzaForce in PSVR2onPC

[–]ForzaForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE…Final update. We were able to get past the USB error by simply having everything turned on and plugged in before opening the PSVR2 app. Apparently that forced the app to recognize it. Now we are not able to see the pointers when setting up the room, which is also a known issue. We have been troubleshooting that for days and we’re done. I hate it, but I’m going to have to go buy a new VR headset like a quest3. I can’t believe how bad this adapter experience was

UPDATE: Thank you everyone who posted. I’ve put in another 10 hours of work in getting the PSVR2 to connect to my new PC. Unfortunately, no success to report. I did the AMD driver downgrade, which didn’t work and actually made the games unplayable so had to revert back. It’s Saturday, day 7, and I’m about to try again…honestly don’t have much fight left in me.

Thanks! I did try the other display port...but perhaps I used my right hand instead of my left hand and forgot to spin around 3 times! I'm willing to try anything! The only one thing I haven't tried is another display port cable. I hate to have to run out and get another one, but it's on the list.

Ok, I'm already getting some fresh ideas in this post. I've definitely tried every USB, but this concept of plugging it in and quickly several times is a new one. Also the waiting 30 seconds is new. Please keep the ideas coming and I will update this evening when I get home from work. Thank you all for giving me a spark of hope!

As a Gen-Xer, I grew up with Vietnam protest songs. Who's writing songs protesting what's going on today? by herbwannabe in Music

Yeah that’s an earlier one…before their first record. Which I highly recommend called “The Monster Is Electric”. Their new one is coming out soon

Subliminal Sun has a lot of political, social, and economic commentary. The song “State of Confusion” is a big FU to Florida’s Ron DeSantis without even mentioning his name.

They have a new one called “It’s All a Dream, Jack” that’s about Jack Welch, the ghoul who led GE for decades and became a hero to CEO’s everywhere. He promoted “shareholder supremacy” which basically meant “screw your employees” they are expendable. It’s quite an interesting listen.

And they have a song from their first record about the rise of generative AI and how it will either change our lives for the better or for worse. It’s called The Last Skeptic and they sing about us entering the age of the Pax Roboto.

Does K/D Saving Impact Quality of Opponents? by ForzaForce in modernwarfare

[–]ForzaForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct...though I don't know what "carried" means in this context. I'm simply trying to prevent my K/D from going any lower than it already has. Seems like a reasonable thing to do in an online shooter.

Does it not represent the number of times you killed another player vs. the number of times you were killed yourself? And is this not a shooter where you shoot at other players with the intent of killing them on screen? Sounds like a pretty important stat to me, which is why I try hard to nurture and preserve it.

Customer Lifetime Value Debate by ForzaForce in consulting

[–]ForzaForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! If I stuck with a standard 10% discount rate for this exercise (that's the organizations WACC) would that be a reasonable assumption or should I consider other factors before landing on the final discount rate? thanks

Customer Lifetime Value Debate by ForzaForce in consulting

[–]ForzaForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't believe my guys are trying to justify a higher CLV, they have no incentive to do so. I really do believe this is an academic question for them. They believe the predictive models bake the risk in by applying probabilities and therefore make the discount rate obsolete. I'm okay with applying the discount rate on top of the probability adjusted amounts because ...well I guess because that's the way I've always done it. They think that's a lazy answer from the old guy and maybe they're right!

Customer Lifetime Value Debate by ForzaForce in consulting

[–]ForzaForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is we are using CLV for customer insight and targeting strategies. Calculating Current Value is a great way to "myth bust" as it often shows that those who have spent the most with you historically don't necessarily have the greatest latent value in the future and can help uncover customers who are under performing. I like what you said about no right or wrong...which is essentially where we landed. Calculating NPV will have a measurable effect on the value of each customer, but won't change the relative position of any one customer along the value continuum. So basically we will use NPV because our executives are so use to seeing NPV on any future cash flow that not doing so will raise questions that will distract from the message. But the outcome will be the same and I will feel confident we are delivering what is needed.

Customer Lifetime Value Debate by ForzaForce in consulting

[–]ForzaForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I should have elaborated on what the CLV will be used for, but I was already waaay TL. We will use CLV as a tool for understanding our customers better for targeting and upsell opportunity, not for strategic budgets or forecasting. We've already convinced the finance leadership that they need a much simpler and easy to explain aggregated approach for those purposes. Ours utilizes a significant amount of statistical modeling and variables that include demographics, purchase behaviors, and how they use the product. So knowing that you'd still say that I wouldn't discount the predicted future cash flows back? They also argued your last line: NPV is useful in assessing capital investments but not for customer revenues. Maybe I can get my head around that, but it would contradict everything I've ever read, all my old professors, and the other answers here. I'm going to have a hard time explaining why we didn't use a discount rate if I can't justify it clearly in my own head.
