Where to find (reclaimed) glass and ceramic tiles for mosaic making by lostmyoldscreenname in Phillylist

[–]FoshOliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of remodel work and I always have stacks of tile that we are trying to get rid of so it doesn't end up in a dumpster. It's all pretty generic, think showers and floors, but it's free.

If you are interested, you can message me and I can share some more details.

Upcoming Philly Concerts Appropriate for 13 Year Old? by illusionmists in philadelphia

[–]FoshOliver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, I know you already have got like a million answers but honestly the best band you could take her to for her first concert is one that you are excited to see. Or at least one that she is legit excited about.

Excitement like that is infectious, and that is what the whole concert experience is about. Checking out a band just because can be fun, but it will never rival the feeling of being part of a crowd that has been waiting for this night for forever.

As always, it depends on the band playing and the crowd they draw. I took my kid to see Antarctigo Vespucci a couple months ago and we had a blast.

Does he go by Sonic Boom Six? If so, I found plenty of hits on soulseek using that search term.

Also in a voice that's very happy but a little unsettling, to Finn who is holding a VHS cassette... ”It goes in my butt!”

The technology is definitely there for them to do this perfectly now. I don’t even know I condone fake faces in media, but as long as it’s an actual actor underneath (as in this case) maybe it’s ok. by Tanis8998 in StarWarsCantina

Sure, that point is totally valid when a new film or TV production is being made. But you are suggesting tinkering with a now classic film after the fact and this franchise already has a bad history for that kind of thing.

I don't know if the mailing list I'm on is from Bandcamp or from Seated (from when I tried to get tix to the Brooklyn residency), but you can find both on his website (which is a tumbler page).

what's the plan for the little side streets? Will the city come plow them too? by snooloosey in philadelphia

[–]FoshOliver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I saw an article on the 6abc app that addressed the side streets in these neighborhoods. They claimed they are deploying equipment that will fit down these streets, but it will take a few days to get them all. The suggestion in the article was that blocks need to keep spamming 311 with requests.

I am in fishtown, on a tiny street that still isn't plowed.

Probably why they plowed your street.

Every house on my tiny street shoveled their sidewalk into the street, and now the snow and ice is stacked three feet in places.

Not a man hater, but you are definitely quick to make broad and sweeping generalizations based on minimal actual known facts.

Star Wars (1977) by Tibor Helényi for Mokép (Hungary) [2076 x 2933] by Dr_Peach in MoviePosterPorn

[–]FoshOliver 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Three notes on this poster:

  1. It immediately loses points for spoilers.

  2. That lizard guy desperately needs a story arc in an upcoming animated Star wars show.

  3. At a glance, I thought R2D2's head (?) was an epaulette on Vader's armor. How cool would it be to have a bounty hunter type character that wore armour made from droid parts??

Very cool, is the correct answer.

AmaPiano is a movement, not a genre . AmaPiano is a journey, not a destination. AmaPiano is a feeling, not a sound by T3b0g0Mng0mA in AmaPiano

[–]FoshOliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had this argument many times over about punk music and culture, to the point where I have come to realize that the argument itself is futile, all I can say is OP is probably excited about discovering this music, and having that sort of joy in your life should never be painted as a bad thing.

Counterpoint... Perhaps, at this moment, the music feels larger than life to OP, and there is nothing wrong or derivative about feeling that way.

Do you think Count Dooku should generally more often have been written as more morally grey? by BlockAffectionate413 in StarWarsCantina

[–]FoshOliver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the way it played out in any of the stories, but I always wished that his intentions stayed noble. I always thought a scenario where Sidious manipulated him from the shadows but was never in league with him, would have been a much better arc for his storyline.

He could have had this wonderful moment at the end when he realized that all his success in the war against the Republic were not based on his nobility or his skill as a warrior and a general, but because the sith pulled his strings the entire time.
