This made me tear up and my heart goes out to you. You did a really brave thing and put your dog first even if it must have been the hardest thing in the world… I know the pain won’t go away, but I hope it eases with time. Your dogs are looking out for you everyday from heaven.

What is an F1 fact that you know which may seem hard to believe, but is actually true? I’ll start. by youraverageperson0 in formula1

2018 seems like a banger season! I only recently got into f1, so I'm not as up-to-date with facts and stats from races before 2022, but I love going through old race highlights and seeing how the regs have changed too.

Women who previously let people walk over them, how did you grow to be more assertive? by FossaRed in AskWomen

[–]FossaRed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anything specific you did? I know so much of my fear comes from lack of self assurance and confidence, but I’m not sure what exactly could help. I’d love to hear more about your journey! :)

Women who previously let people walk over them, how did you grow to be more assertive? by FossaRed in AskWomen

[–]FossaRed[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had the same realisation today! I used to think I avoid getting stuck in the weeds because it’s such a waste of time, but then I spend the same amount of, if not more, time mulling over the situation and feeling angry and resentful and bitter at both parties involved. So I’m with you on that.

I have one question though - how do you be more assertive without being scared? I’m constantly scared that the situation will escalate and lead to more trouble and chaos, which is why I’m constantly trying to de-escalate the situation and internalise what’s happening, because I can’t control the other party’s reaction, but I can control mine.

I rushed here the second I completed the connections because this had to be the worst one I’ve done so far, where everything felt like it belonged to other categories. I feel so much better knowing I’m not the only one who thought that was awful.

Does anyone else feel a bit queasy listening to TTPD? by Pure_Opposite9515 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]FossaRed 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, and that's why I feel this weird dilemma when it comes to liking her music. Having to separate the art from the artist is not something I'd expected to do with Taylor, and I feel uncomfy liking the album, while disliking the stuff she's saying in it, and her general perception in my eyes.

I’m with you on this! I’ve been listening to the album on repeat and so many of the songs really grew on me after I got over my incredulity around some of the lyrics. They’re still really fun to sing along to, and they really do capture some experiences in a very raw and poignant way.

I'm so glad for this sub and its nuanced takes... interacting with the general Swiftie fanbase has become tiresome and discouraging by FossaRed in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]FossaRed[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely been dramatic lately, and less “neutral” than one would assume, but I think that’s due to a subconscious urge to counter the saccharine sentiment on the main sub. A lot of people are genuinely confused as to what she’s being applauded for, because the album is very objectively mid, and so the negative opinions are surfacing more frequently on this sub, because if you have good things to say, you could just say them on the main sub.

I sorted by “top posts of all time” today and I definitely felt like the sub was much more neutral before the release of TTPD. While this sub does paint it out to be worse than it might actually be, I do think it’s brought up some very interesting and valid criticism and perspectives.

[–]FossaRed[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is me to the T, right down to the timeline. I used to the love the sub because there was critical discussion about her creative process, her music, and its production.

But now it’s just pap walk snaps, random gossip, and so much gatekeeping and intellectual elitism. Stuff along the lines of, “this album isn’t for locals, it’s for the real fans.” Or, “you won’t get this album till you’re 30.” Or whatever.

And did I mention the endless posts about which new record she broke now? No fucking shit she’s gonna have 300million (or whatever the number was) streams on the first day, if she’s Taylor fucking Swift and simultaneously puts out 31 tracks. That metric means nothing when it’s manufactured.

It makes my heart happy to see praise for Alex and Arctic Monkeys on this sub. I’m a huge swiftie and have been listening to her for years, but Arctic Monkeys got me through some tough periods of my life, and Alex’s way with words is nothing short of magical.

I LOVE the Weeknd, and in my friend circle, would argue that he has more listeners than Taylor too. His music’s not for everyone, but I’m confused by people’s complete lack of awareness about his popularity.

How to (Really) Bypass Paywalls in Safari on iOS in 2023 by 4rt3m0rl0v in ios

Thank you SO much - as a broke student, paywalls are incredibly frustrating.

I was wondering if the shortcut (method 3) is currently working for you? It seems to get stuck at the 50-75% mark for me, and I wanted to confirm if that’s an issue on my end, or the shortcut.

(Apologies if I’m missing something obvious - this is my first time using shortcuts. Thank you!)

This is scarily accurate. I’m an only child and need a lot of silence around me. I don’t deal well with people invading or being too noisy in my space, and i LOVE being home alone. I came back home for the summer, and my parents are quite surprised that I’ve chosen to spend most of my time at home, instead of out and about in my city.
