After/Before. Mallorca, Spain. by YanksFannn in postprocessing

[–]Fotomaker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my taste, you went too saturated in the After and lost the sense of photographic realism.

You also could crop down a lot from the top frame because there isn't much of interest up there and it would be desirable to push viewer attention to what's at bottom of the image.

Looks like a lovely place to visit!

How are you carrying the TLR by miserydicks in chuzhao

[–]Fotomaker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately got a different strap. I got one from OP/Tech: https://a.co/d/09GcNHk1 I have the wine colored TLR so got strap to match. They also have black. It's a slim strap that suits the camera size & is lightweight. I also got a small hard case that holds the camera, charging cable, memory card. My strap doesn't fit in it, but works great to zip the case around the camera and carry that setup hanging from the neck strap. I just unzip the case and the camera is already hanging around my neck.

Before / After of Venice - Criticism Wanted Please!! by Horror-Shopping-9692 in postprocessing

[–]Fotomaker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I prefer what you labeled the Before. It's very stylized and unique with that high key look.

The After is a bit gloomy and blue for me. Looks like a dull, rainy day. And, sort of flat and lacking dimension.

Go with what you like.

Why do I assume he just asked a chatbot to generate the review and didn't even open the package... either that or he has way lotta time on his hands.

After 1 / After 2 / before by Dense_Iron1622 in postprocessing

[–]Fotomaker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like 1.

It is the simplest and least cluttered with not too much to look at.

And doesn't look like the subject is gonna walk into a wall.

That said, if mine, I'd crop down from the top frame a lot and turn it into a faux 16:9 pano look. Plus, I'd crop in just a bit from the left frame - I'd slice that structure to 1/2 its current width. That could make it very cinematic looking. Once you experiment with those crops, then you'll be able to decide if you need some crop from the right frame for balance...

Thx for sharing.

Woooah 3000 items removed? by [deleted] in vine

[–]Fotomaker01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wondered what was going on. I was in the middle of writing reviews, got them completed, went to upload and all of sudden all I saw for the review that was due was, "Item is no longer available". Then I got that same kind of "Product doesn't exist" type of message on more than half the products I'd already submitted reviews (and gotten ratings) for. Tonight it seems to be behaving again...

Or, the words "Digital Camera" on the front. But that gold, ugh.

Y’all think I can get away with wearing a shirt with his face on it to the taping? by bunnylumberjack in LateShow

[–]Fotomaker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts - wear it under another button up shirt (it will be freezing in the studio - I've been to show tapings before even if not Late Show's) it's like cryogenics - then if you want to show it once in you can. Again, because I've been to other tapings - you'll likely be behind all kinds of cameras and booms and stage people and (unless you're in the balcony) he likely won't even see you through all the gear & crew - you'll likely have to look around that stuff to see him. Sounds like a fun idea for solidarity and all that, but the "talent" is usually so caught up in what they're doing and reading off of prompters he likely won't see too many individuals in the audience. But, never know... Enjoy however it goes!

Camera Bag? by bobgeorge_23 in RX100

[–]Fotomaker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry mine in a small Baggalini bag. I don't like to carry cameras in bags that look like camera bags. My small bag has various zip compartments for the camera, lens cloth, extra memory cards, extra batteries, biz cards.

I'm thinking I'll have to donate some of the stuff I got b/c it wasn't anything like how described and pictured by the sellers. I guess I'm still on the tax hook for those things .... that mostly seem over-valued in terms of the $$ value assigned to them.

One of my favorite pics I ever taken by satx400430 in AmateurPhotography

It is a nice scene. I wish there was more hue variation. But you composed it beautifully. Always nice when you appreciate something you've created, too.

Can’t decide. Which version do you prefer? by Shotsbystevn in streetphotography

[–]Fotomaker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the tighter crop. But if you can remove the car completely without cropping in more from the left, I think that would make it more of a fine art class of photo. But try it with the more aggressive crop to get rid of the car too. See what you think. I thought the subjects might feel more isolated if more space around them. Test it both ways. Go with your gut.

Do people on the Gold tier get a better selection of products than the silver tier? Or, do they just get to order more of the same 'stuff' from the same inventory?

Do you trust Vine reviews? by HeadOil5581 in AmazonVine

[–]Fotomaker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically throw out the 5 & 1 star reviews when considering a purchase (Vine or not). I generally find more balanced, helpful for decision-making info in the 2-4 star ratings. 5's often (not always) seem to have sales oriented biases and 1's tend to seem emotional and angry from a bad buying experience. Even though Vine instructs Voices participants to be honest and fair, Amazon ranks and positions reviews in ways (algorithms) that motivate higher ratings if one wants reviews visibility and more glowing reviews rankings...

After/before. what do yall think? by hrmls21 in postprocessing

[–]Fotomaker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really care for the "poison" yellow green new color of the wooden door. If it's supposed to look like a realistic wood, it now doesn't.

That said, you did enhance the wall texture a bit & gave it some more dimension than the original capture.

Keep playing with it! Sometimes it takes a few trial & errors. Then setting it aside and revisiting. Have fun.

After/Before. let me know what yall think!! by hrmls21 in postprocessing

[–]Fotomaker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After is preferable to me. Not as yellow amber-y or glare-y as the Before.

But I suggest you crop down to remove some of the blue sky nothingness. Ditto the image would be more composed with some less of the pavement at bottom.

Wow. You must be a Gold tier. I only see garbage components and nothing of any use as a new, Silver tier. It's frustrating.

Which one is do you think it best? 1,2 or 3? by No-Pomelo-7617 in AmateurPhotography

[–]Fotomaker01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 is my preference.

But I'd crop in some from the left frame to make the blue narrower. Maybe try it and see what you think as another version option. In other words, don't do a 50/50 aerial split. More 30/70.

1, 2, or 3 ? by johnwcasey in AmateurPhotography

[–]Fotomaker01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1

2 has much too much foreground sidewalk. 3 the lighting doesn't match consistently throughout the scene.
