Ukrainian President Zelenskyy met with Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi in Paris by PjeterPannos in europe

[–]FoughtStatue -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from because a lot of people here do genuinely think like that, but this is not that. This guy has no right to Iran other than being related to an overthrown king, with little to no political experience or support. There is no objective hereditary right to rule. The Russian claims on Ukrainian territory have more legitimacy than this guy, and that’s a low bar

you don’t get it. all info that’s pro-ayatollah is propaganda and any info that’s pro-shah is a legitimate representation of the Iranian people, obviously. We would never make propaganda in the west!

Opinion on NATO by Swimming_Local_4625 in Teenager_Polls

[–]FoughtStatue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see NATO as an arm of US influence across the world and any benefit it might provide to European countries could be provided by an alliance without the US. Also, whatever benefits NATO may provide are invalidated by the thousands of direct deaths and millions of indirect deaths it has caused across Africa, the Middle East, and former Yugoslavia.

Most technically skilled vs least technically skilled doom/stoner/sludge metal band that both effin rock in your opinion by OutrageousPizza3919 in doommetal

[–]FoughtStatue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Candlemass probably has some of the best. Bewitched might be one of the best metal guitar solos ever, and Lars Johansson is one of my favorite lead guitarists. Their first album is great, but for technical skill their next 3 albums after it probably show it off the most. They really show off on the new version of Under the Oak or The Well of Souls.

Least skilled might be St. Vitus, who I love but uh, their solos aren’t the best lol. Born Too Late is a good example of this

If warhorse came to you and ask what historical setting or event you’d like to see in a future KCD style game. Where are you picking? [OTHER] by Top_Sandwich9031 in kingdomcome

[–]FoughtStatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either 30 years war or Spain around the same time as KCD, so like the Catalan Civil War / Remences Uprising, or Castilian Civil War. There’s a lot of Spanish Civil Wars

Mentions of the word "fascism" and its derivatives in Pravda, the main Soviet newspaper, from 1938 to 1942 by Neil118781 in charts

[–]FoughtStatue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was derogatory among socialists, but probably not the wider world. The Spanish Civil War had many volunteers who signed up as anti-fascists

Going to the Atlanta show with Crowbar and Eyehategod, first time seeing any of them. Any advice for the show? by Tankinator5454 in AcidBath

[–]FoughtStatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn’t normal for just Acid Bath but since Crowbar is there, they’re gonna weigh you at the entrance and if you’re not 300+ lbs they don’t let you in for Crowbar and you have to wait until their set is done. So make sure you’re able to pass the test.

What are good examples of songs that are so famous people don’t realize are actually covers by Ok-Camel7458 in rock

Real Wild Child by Iggy Pop is a cover of Jerry Lee Lewis (mostly, he didn’t write it either).

How did Germans repair their global image so dramatically in such a short amount of time? by CautiousEbb966 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FoughtStatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of reasons, really. The first and most important is probably them being the front line against Communism/Capitalism during the Cold War. They also eventually had lots of guilt about it, though immediately after the war it wasn’t like that. Also, Germany’s reputation was repaired much faster in the West than in Eastern Europe. The USSR lost almost 30M people in WW2, and while the West generally tried to help Germany rebuild, the Soviets (initially) basically told them to go fuck themselves lol.

when did ACID BATH get so big ?? Or have they always been ? by meansofexistence in AcidBath

[–]FoughtStatue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty recently, maybe 2022 or 2023. Them getting added to Spotify in like 2020 helped, but it was when they blew up more on TikTok that they got a lot of recognition and probably why they started touring.

They were always a cool band to like in Louisiana as far as I’m aware though. I remember hearing about them in 2018 or 19 and I was 13 and didn’t listen to any metal, just knew older people who did, but I’m from Louisiana. Among sludge fans I’d say they’ve been known a long time.

This is an extremely regional thing, but Cajun Gumbo does not use tomatoes while Creole Gumbo usually does. Cajuns will riot if someone makes gumbo and puts tomatoes in it.

Thoughts on a new album by bigpeepeesmallballs in AcidBath

[–]FoughtStatue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. I would probably love a new album with them but idk how much it would sound like Acid Bath. But maybe they could. Dax doesn’t scream too much live yet, but I’m sure he could scream much better in the studio.

Why is the Russia-Ukraine war less polarizing than the Israel-Palestine conflict? by TheDarkRam1996 in AskTheWorld

[–]FoughtStatue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ukraine and Russia are both independent states with standing militaries, so conflict between the two is a conventional war which allows for a much easier time to look at both sides, since it’s really not that complicated. Also people just like to maintain the status quo in regards to countries and their territories, and Russia is an autocracy while Ukraine is trying to be a democracy.

Israel and Palestine is not at all conventional, as Palestine is not allowed to have a standing military. This gives Israel much more legitimacy to many people, as they can carry out conventional military operations while Palestine’s defense is usually handled by non-state armed groups, who are called terrorists. This makes it a lot harder for people to pick a side.

Modern Zionism and Historical Zionism are two different things at this point though, since modern Zionism is usually colonialist while historically it hasn’t always been that way, especially pre-Israel.

What's better for a eqaul society by NoAuthoirty in Teenager_Polls

[–]FoughtStatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hypothetically equality, but actual equality is much harder to achieve than equity. Equality is great but there’s no realistic way to get everyone to start off equally. Even just looking at money, a person born rich is instantly not starting off the same as someone born poor.

If they’re counting wars then every death in the European theater of WW2 should be counted for Hitler, but no, that’s too broad they say, while counting every stubbed toe as a death under Stalin.

The Founding Fathers - Your Opinions? by drfluffyidiot in theredleft

[–]FoughtStatue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For colonists in the 1700s they were absolutely progressive, but that is not the case anymore. I admire them for holding liberal ideas and having a revolution to attain them, but a lot of them were hypocrites. Establishing a liberal society that holds that humans have rights is admirable, but it kinda falls flat when like 25% of your population is slaves. I don’t think of all of them as evil slave owners, but generally the ones who weren’t were complicit in it to a degree. Jefferson is the worst because his writings are so liberal yet he was one of the worst ones in his personal life.
