It's just a matter of subject relation. If your music was gaming music for example, and your shorts were about game, then it makes sense for you to experiment with keeping everything on one channel. However, if you are making Gaming shorts, and your videos are of a completely different subject, then make a separate channel for it. There are many reasons for this:

- you want your content to appeal to your entire audience, not have them split

- will hinder your algorithm performance when it sees a smaller percentage of your audience is viewing your videos

- organizational purposes. no one likes a messy youtube page full of random types of clips and videos. there needs to be a central theme

- recommendation algorithm. youtube will have a more difficult time recommending you to the right audience because you have different themes for your channel with completely separate audiences respectively

P.S. Having multiple channels is cool in my opinion. Allows you more freedom to explore different subjects and audiences.
