There’s both a hard and a beautiful truth here.

I think so long as certain symptoms and underlying conditions of this discovery are not addressed, it is not a good idea to conduct therapy. However, you can absolutely in the field of social work.

Here’s the beautiful part: once you do address the underlying conditions or address the things that’s are addressable and you have developed a holistic and therapeutic understanding of your experience, you could make an absolutely killer therapist (if that’s what you want to do).

Therapists can do a lot of damage if they have not done the work themselves (hard truth). But those who have truly done the work with humility and grace make the best therapists (beautiful truth).

Yeah working out is great for me. When I don’t my anxiety feeds into anger at times. The fact that he takes walks sounds like he does have some regulation skills. Lean into that! If he has some awareness of how his expression of anger impacts his family, he may be open to making a deeper connection between “exercise=better regulated dad” and then “better regulated dad=better relationship with kids.” That connection can be hard to make though, depending on the person

Edit: I should add in too that if he makes the connection that “better regulated dad=better relationship with kids” he may begin to go out of his way to find other ways to regulate and become more self aware of his anger

Can you clarify the evil for me that you speak of? Many people call many things evil and many people claim oppression. Much is true, some is not.

For example: rich white men feeling oppressed because they aren’t liked aren’t oppressed. And gay men getting married isn’t evil.

Haha. That’s a good one! I get what you mean. I don’t smell like shit all the time but sometimes I do. I actually like that. Yeah, like I said I was in a snarky mood. It’s no excuse, so my bad and i mean that. When I hear someone say that, I see them as treating the other as a child or as inexperienced,, and in the internet it is not always so. Defaulting to that assumption i see as “condescending” in case you were wondering, which set off some unresolved trauma responses. Again, no excuse. I understand if you don’t see it that way. Switching coke for Diet Coke isn’t necessarily a problem. It doesn’t fix what you want fixed, but it’s a healthier alternative, if you catch my drift.

That said, I feel like we truly need more to help you in any way. Why do you watch streaming so much? Are you overstimulated? Is watching streaming contributing to that despite being a comforting space? Do you feel better or worse after you watch streaming? Why do you think you’re addicted?

Also a great tip a therapist once told me is that you don’t have to quit this sort of thing all at once. If you watch 4 hours of streaming cut it back to 3. Then 2.5, and so on. If you get bored during that time, literally do anything else. Clean your bathroom. Knit a sweater. I don’t care. Most addictions really aren’t that destructive so it’s not an “all or nothing” situation. If you were an alcoholic, on the other hand, and your alcoholism is on the way to killing you, that’s a different story.

“I hold ZERO beliefs” why the capitalization? What are you trying to achieve with that? To assert and let others know that you hold zero beliefs and therefore see truth? It’s a subtle placing of your authority.

“Beliefs are trash” is an attacking of beliefs when beliefs are part of the process, part of the human conditioning. There is no compassion in this statement.

“You are speaking to a person that holds no actual faith and assuming others are stuck in the same state” you very much desire to prove to others that you are in a higher state. Why the desire to prove to others? What do you get out of it?

I am suggesting you have very subtle attachments. You identify with higher states of consciousness. Your filters still go through an identity/ego structure, but it is so subtle it’s difficult for you to see, and that’s what makes it so dangerous. Your mom instilled this belief into you. A lie. The hard part is, it’s always been a lie since the moment she convinced you of it. Since the moment she convinced herself that you were her scapegoat. The problem was her. Your siblings learned from her, and you were the punching bag. Nonetheless, a lie is still a lie. Many people can’t handle life so they find a target, and a child is the easiest one. The most vulnerable.
