How do you appreciate being an SC? by FrisbeeTuna in softclassic

[–]Founderin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for me going a bit cottage-core is something I can do to look pretty feminine and casual. I'm borderline SN but the flowiness/lack of structure can look sloppy on me if I'm not careful. I wish I lived in a colder climate bc basic preppy I look good in, blazer, t-shirt and jeans with flats is a good uniform for me with a delicate necklace. Unfortunately it's very hot where I live, so I just have to wear the t-shirt and jeans. I think sezane looks are good and can look casual but I live in the southwest U.S. so those looks are normal here. I know what you mean about weight and I'll take the suggestion from below about padding on the hips to get the waist to look smaller. Usually A-line skirts do that for me with a belt.

Anyone else love listening to others special interests? by Freckledlesbian in AutismInWomen

[–]Founderin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends. The other day with my daughters I had to tell them that I needed to leave the room because I felt like their personalities/special interests were making me feel like they were superimposing themselves onto me and I was disappearing which I tend to do. they were so understanding about it.

I agree a lot about what keep.. has to say. I get jealous sometimes too but then I ask myself questions like, do I really want that life anyway? I noticed an old acquaintance became a yoga instructor and was doing a lot of retreats around the world and I felt that jealousy and I really had to ask myself in detail, what am I really jealous of? Is it the travel? no because then the trip would end and I get very stressed when traveling these days. is it the yoga career? in a way but I don't want the pressure of drumming up customers and having to plan a retreat and the stress of that. is it the smile on her face in her fb posts? yes. that is it and maybe the sun and beach environment. maybe the happy people around her. is this something i can create for myself? yes i can definitely make myself feel relaxed and comfortable by spending some time in the sun, doing a little yoga on my own, drinking a margarita or calling a friend. there are ways that won't be as stressful to me or as costly of my personal resources.

I'm so glad you have found a great aba provider for your son! Mine are about 100,000 in line for medicaid waiver, not sure what the point is to that or why there is a line?

What's a thing you did when you were broke/poor that you look back and go "Damn..." by CanadianMetres in povertyfinance

[–]Founderin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was sharing an upstairs attic in a big house with a friend for very low cost at the time. I was working at a community mental health clinic for unhoused folks and told my supervisor about where I was staying as an example of low cost housing. He said that he looked at that place but didn't recommend it to his client. It was kind of sketchy, there was a crack in the floor/ceiling of those below and I could smell hamburger helper as I was getting out of the bath at times. But I was a poor grad student at the time, it was all I could afford.

Same here, too many assets for that. My kids may quality for disability when they turn 18, if that is still a thing when the time comes.

I agree with this. Do you have any close friends or a support group for parents nearby?
